need help quick on 5 speed swap.. fixed

Well i started my 5 speed swap and got the ATX transmission out. I am using a 5 speed computer and engine harness but ran into some problems with hooking the harness up. Do you have to have the whole car harness from a 5 speed (the one that runs into the fuse box and into the firewall)? I just got the harness with the injectors but it has a big plug on it that has no where to plug into. and the original two plugs up by the brake booster have no where to plug into

What year did the donor come from? If it's not 03+, it won't work. You can ground out the neutral safety switch wire in the trans harness and it will give you all kinds of codes until you get a hold of an 03-05 ECU and have your vin flashed into it.

yeah my car is an 03 and the donor was an 05. I got the ecu and engine harness from the 05. But the plugs that connect up by the brake booster are different. My car used two plugs and this 05 has one big one. the wires are the same colors so i am wondering if I can cut the two plugs off my old harness and solder onto this 05 harness.
I'm guessing maybe they just changed to one plug?
Heres the plug on the 05 harness, my car has 2 plus here

Ah, I didn't realize that had changed. I'm not near my stuff right now, but google this: 19079-pl_intlpdf and it will tell you anything you ever wanted to know about how these cars are set up from the factory.

x2
I knew the '02 to '03 had changed connector plugs, but possibly the '05's are unique to themselves.
But the wire colors are prolly the same, you would just need to pull the wires/sockets from the connectors, and match them to the '03 connectors, if they use the same style sockets. Otherwise, you will have to get an '03/'04 under hood harness. Or hack the crap out of both.
IIRC, there are also a few differences with the '05 set up that might give you headaches with the PCM. But I might be wrong there. I know the 60mm TB will not work too well with an '05.

yeah there are the same number of wires and they are the same colors so i think i am going to use my 03 plugs.
now that i think about it i got the harness from the 05 but he didn't have the PCM so i bought a MTX one off of a 03. would this correct the headaches with the PCM your talking about?
also is there any pins on the computer that will need to be changed around or anything that yall know of

I don't believe the pin outs for the PCM are different. But I thought the '05's use a different TPS set up or something along that line.
I only have the '04 FSM, so anything '05, you will need to hear from '05 owners to be sure.
My '01 FSM will not help at all here.
That, and the '04 PDF FSM has a few discrepancies between specs that are supposed to be the same. ('96 to '05 2.0 cam) So I don't put a huge amount of faith in everything that is there. For the most part, it is pretty accurate tho.

ok yeah i didn't know there were differences between 03-05 other than the 05 PCM's being sensitive to crap. well i'm going to swap my plugs and hook this harness in and see what happens. i need to find the wire for the clutch safety switch so i can tie into it.
also the reverse plug on the transmission where does that hook into. i don't think this engine harness has a plug for it so i need to find where it hooks too, any input?

If it is just the engine harness, and not the complete bay harness, you may not have the connector for the back up lights. If it is the complete harness the connector should be somewhere near the battery tray location. Top front of the MTX. The switch can be pulled out for a fill point.
The clutch pedal switch will need to be purchased if it wasn't on the pedal assy. Should be two switches into one connector. Upstop for speed control, and the start safety for the bottom of travel.
Edit:

There is a pic/diagram and pn# in this thread.

ok i can deal without the backup lights if i need too. and no my clutch interlock is only one switch with two wires.. it came like that on the pedal assembly so i dont have the upstop one

Prolly the newer cars that didn't come Speed Control equipped, didn't have it. It is it's only function, to cancel the cruise if the pedal is even touched. Basically the same as the brake cancel. My '01 didn't have cruise, but it was still there.

well i got it going.. you don't have to change the engine harnesses as they are identical as far as i could tell. i had the MTX pcm reflashed today. the only thing is i don't have a speedometer so i need to figure that out. other than that no check engine codes...

Is the VSS plugged in at the diff housing? The ATX VSS connector prolly won't reach the MTX location, and IDK if the connectors are the same. The ATX VSS signal may also be in a different pin location on the PCM, as it is also used for ATX functions.

no the plug for the MTX speed sensor is on the engine harness it is just capped off. so i just plugged it in. but the 5 volt and ground are there in the plug and the signal wire in the plug is the right color but its going to the wrong pin on the computer. i looked at the wiring diagram and i have to repin the speed signal wire from C2 down to a pin on C1. I don't know why the signal wire is going to C2.
I'm not using any of the ATX plugs i just got them taped up.

well i got the speedometer working today.. just had to finish running the VSS signal wire to the computer cause it wasn't pinned for it. everything is working good now..

At least I was right on that bit of "theory".
