00 atx wont move. NEW PROBLEM.

3200 stall converter
Hayden trans cooler
Only atf+4 trans fluid
Stock valve body for now.

2.4 swap done and running great. Put it in gear and no gears. No forward no reverse just revving.

I do have a spare trans to pull apart and possibly use parts from but I hope I can do this without pulling the trans.

What are the possible problems here?

Yeah, im hoping to change the filter and make this work. But im doubtful its that easy. Id hate to have a torque converter problem considering what I paid for it.

Item 4 Oil Pump damaged.

I would bet from your other post about it being hard to crank, this may be the problem. If the TC is not installed all the way, it will trash the pump. If this is the case, the ATX is coming back out. :(

viewtopic.php?p=889004&highlight=#889004

But you should be able to just swap the pump assy's, install the TC being sure it is seated in correctly, then attach the ATX to the engine.

If it is like old school torqueflights, the TC should move inward two times while turning it to engage the pump properly.

:( pulling transmission today.

How long after installing the TC did this happen? I would think the pump would give out pretty fast if the TC wasn't seated properly.

This is the first time the motor has been ran since the 2.4 swap and the trans parts were all done at the same time

Is it possible this isn't a pump problem? I did have a line blow off the cooler and spew atf+4 all over my garage while I was dialing in the motor today (I still haven't gotten to pulling the trans.)

I would say it is pumping. :D

It still doesn't help you tho. :(

Besides maybe not having to pull the ATX.

Well thank you sir, I just wanted to confirm my suspissions. I hope like hell it's not the torque converter I bought from a member here :(

Possibly the pump wasn't priming, and it just got prime? Did you rebuild it, or just install the parts in the first post? I can't recall if you mentioned it elsewhere. If the pump was new, it may not have been primed/lubed from the manufacturer./?

How high did you rev it to see if it would move? 3200 should be close to "full engagement" But I would imagine it should give you some forward motion by 1200 to 1500 rpm.

I'm not sure exactly how high I was revving (currently running the black tactless cluster) but it was bouncing of the rev limiter pretty good. This trans was not rebuilt whatsoever it came from a different car that was running and driving when removed, about a year and a half ago. All I did was change the stall converter and add the cooler (I don't trust my radiator as its stock.)

I did swap transmissions after the post you linked above because I was worried about the pump. That trans is sitting in my garage in pieces.

Well we (now) know the filter is letting fluid flow, and the pump is moving fluid. I doubt it is the valve body if, it hasn't been touched. That kinda leaves the TC. Without testing the different ports for pressure, it is hard to know exactly. Have you tried it with the tires off the ground? Just to see if it tries to move the wheels...

if you still have the original TC, I would try that next. :(

Well today I got the car up on jacks and jackstands to put the exhaust on and the wheels are spinning (well the driver side is.) So off the ground I have power at atleast one wheel, this could be a cf shaft issue right?

If it was a broken halfshaft, there would be some kind of noise. (But with no exhaust, you may not hear the diff spinning internally.) Plus I'm sure you would have noticed installing it. Wedge a board against the turning side, and see if the other side spins.

Both wheels spin but don't seem to go any faster when I give it any gas. Atleast not from what I can see.
also it seems as though even in drive it is hitting the rev limiter and not shifting out of 1st

Well, I was tying up some loose ends inside the car today and finishing up the breaks and a few other things when I decided to plug my scanner in. Aside from the usual codes that cone with ms there was the 0743 code
Could this all be the fault of the torque converter solenoid?

So I'm still having trouble...
I've replaced the torque converter with the stock one for now to see if that was in fact my problem but now the transmission will not seat without binding no matter what I do. I've tried jacks and stands, my engine hoist, I've seated and reseated the torque converter, hell I even laid under the transmission and tried holding it in place while friends bolted it on.

Would adding an srt-4 trans to motor bracket to the bottom of this help? I didn't put it in because I had planned on going Turbo once this build was done and routing ic piping through there.

Ideas?

solution: t-350 transmission!

Not only has it been considered there is a plan for it, right now I simply don't have the resources... not to mention finding a mtx neon around here that hasn't been raped and left naked is just shy of impossible.

Too bad the 1gn is 4 hours away now days (heck, you are closer to it than me), or I would pull the inspection cover to get a distance the TC sits in, installed in a functioning ATX. Possibly the pump is damaged from the previous attempt?

I doubt the bracket would help, if it won't mate properly to begin with.

Well, I'm using a different transmission now since I was worried about the pump since you had mentioned it before.
With the trans out of the car everything seems to spin freely

I have no ideas left. This is one of those things that is a PITA to figure out without being able to physically be there. :(
