yeah outside doesnt say much about a trans, i mean it doesnt appear to be leaking which is good, but like adam said it could've been cleaned. you need to pull the shafts out of the transmission and look at the syncro's and shift forks, thats tells the real story.

Yeah can look great outside and be shit inside. And the fact I see the diff but no pin savers is a question as to why? Why did he not spend the few bucks while he had it apart to put them in.

Why was it split in half? And no diff pin tabs installed? The bearing surface on the output shaft isn't as smooth as I'd like it.
What was used to seal it?
It's a 3.94 HD trans though.

Thanks for the input so far guys.
No idea why there were no pins but the owner said he would install some. I believe he pulled the trans, not a personal one of his. I already asked about what was used to seal it and the owner seems to think its factory junk. I have also asked about internal pictures, those are pending.
sidepipe87, I do have a SRT but my ATX SXT needs a new solenoid pack, again, and that is nearly the same price as a 5 speed. So why not do a swap.

the factory junk actually works fine. its called anerobic sealant btw. what you dont want to use is rtv sealant, i think thats why chip was asking.

Yeah since it's been split open, it doesn't matter what used to seal it. It no longer seals it. When he puts it back together, that's what I was asking about. Too many use RTV since it's cheaper and easier to find. I use Loctite 518 anaerobic sealer and the green primer crap for it. Pretty sure it's just acetone with dye in it from reading the label.

Seller backed out. What the fuck is it with people who make this process such a hassle?!
Him;
At this point, I'm going to decline to sell the transmission for what you've offered.
Me;
You mean you are declining based on your offer, right? My offer was only $10 less than what you were asking of me and that was because I told you to keep some of your parts.
Oh, and this is the PM I got right after I asked for internal shots.

I can build you one.
It would include pictures of every internal part as I build it.

Price?

$1200. All new bearings, seals, synchro stop rings, modified oiling holes, 2nd gen rear cover, media blasted case, new diff pin and saver tabs, etc. I use only OE Mopar parts that I get from Ed Peters, my business partner.
Here's some pics of some progress pics on other transmissions:
That one is a 4.12 FD ratio with T355 (caliber) 3rd and 4th gears. Input shaft needed some modification and different bearing under the 4th gear, along with a spacer, but the rest pretty much works like it is supposed to go on the T350 input shaft. The 3-4 cluster goes on the output shaft like a stock one does. Ed did the research for that.
And how I ship them:

Nice work but out of what I was looking to spend. That money could go to my straight cut T-850 fund.
Do you have anything inspected and rebuilt (where needed) for cheaper, lets say <$300?

by chipdogg
Nope. High mileage junkyard transmissions sell for that.

Well, do you have ANY 3.94 trans sitting around collecting dust?

I have at least a dozen but only like 2 are still completely assembled, and they both make noise. Rebuild cores.

Found another, seller says it came off of a 420A car (Eclipse). Would I run into any problems with that?

it would work yes, but if memory serves me correctly it will have the smooth casing like the 1gns which isnt as strong as the 2gn, same with the internals. it should have a hydro bellhousing though.
