Wobble, popping, coming from passenger front on take off

Post by 847SRT4 » Sat Mar 30, 2013 7:00 pm

I have a 2004 neon with the srt4 swap but on a t350 transmission. I'm getting some popping noises when I take off from the right axle and the steering wheel wobbles during hard acceleration or WOT.

Things I have replaced

Urethane control arm bushings
Pass axle
Swapped wheels and rotors from right to left

I'm on eibach sport lines with blown rear struts.

Help ):

Have you checked all of your sub frame and suspension bolts ? Also, are you using the SRT axle? Double check the carrier bearing and halfshaft, and make sure your axle nut is torqued regardless of wick axle you are using.
I keep finding Lucas electronics in my Neon.

Yes all the bolts are torqued down. I'm using the neon axles since I'm using the stock neon t350. I replaced the passenger side axle and it still does the noice. I jacked up the car and had it in gear and noticed the drivers side clicked and wobbles a bit.

With it in the air, block the passenger side from moving and run it to isolate whether it is the passenger of driver for sure. Unless you have an LSD of course.

A good sized screw driver in the rotor will keep one side or the other from turning. Just don't go for anything other than idle speed tho. And be prepared for anything. Maybe a helper to push the clutch may not be a bad idea.

Yeah I did that I noticed the shaft of the axle wobbles and the axle clicks. I'm lowered so when the car is on the ground it dosent click. So I'm assuming. Bad axle?

Very possible.

You can use a Shadow/Daytona driver side axle to upgrade that side. Unfortunately you are stuck with the regular neon axle for the passenger side, unless you go custom.

Comparison shot of both driver shafts. The damper weight would need removed. The sway link bolt will hit it.
