Autostick for my 5 SXT ATX?

Questions about axles, transmissions, differentials, pretty much anything that connects the engine to the wheels, this is the place for those questions.

Autostick for my 5 SXT ATX?

Post by timk225 » Wed Jul 17, 2013 11:07 am

Whoever the moron is who designed the auto trans shift map for my 5 SXT ATX is an idiot. It's bad enough that the engine is total WEAKSAUCE, but then the ATX doesn't downshift when I want it to, or it'll downshift too easily, then it'll hold a lower gear going up a hill so unless I want to go up a hill at 4500 rpm / about 70 mph for about a half mile, I have to totally get off the gas to get it to upshift, then it does, and by then I've lost speed going up the hill and pressing the gas too hard makes it downshift again.

I want manual control of the automatic. But no, I'm not going to install a 5 speed, I bought this car for L.A. city driving, which it'll be doing in a few months. If I were staying here I'd have bought an SRT4, but I'm not, so I didn't.

Any way to Autostick this thing? I don't need the dash indicator lights, just the shifter assembly and associated wires.

Unneccessarily complex, I think. It'd be nice if I could just wire in 3 switches. One to put it in AutoStick mode, one to shift up, and one to shift down. From what I read, it seems like you have to have the instrument cluster to make the AutoStick work.

Yep.

Or you could search the Jeep Forums. There are controllers for the AW4 that might be able to be adapted to the 41te.
