what are the pros and cons of a manual boost controller and a electric boost controller. all my friends tell me it's easier to blow your motor with a manual one. idk, thought id ask the experts on the forum.

Mechanical boost controller would be cheaper. That's pretty much the only good thing about it. Although a decent MBC will run you about $100 - $120, and a good boost/vac gauge is like $100. So really it would be that much more to get an electric one.

That was my thinking anyway, when I got the AEM Tru-boost controller. It goes for $295. I didn't want to spend $220 for a mechanical contoller and gauge when I could spend just a little more to get an electric one that works ten times better.

One of the benefits of the electric boost controller, is overboost protection. With a MBC you set the spring, and if you get a boost spike for some reason, your controller isn't going to change. An electric controller, on the other hand, can vary the duty cycle of the control solenoid. This will give you faster spool up, more precise boost control, and overboost protection.
