I have my turbo kit finally installed and after driving it for about 3 miles, I came to a stop light and it just started to smoke ungodly. Im only running a downpipe right now, so I could see that the smoke was coming out of the exhaust. So I instantly parked it! I did some research and found that I didn't install an oil restrictor. BUMMER!!! Anyone know if this could solve my problem? Also, on my BOV, it came with a little black piece, I guess fits inline with the BOV vaccum line. Anyone know what this is? I think it's a filter. Oh yea, one last thing. My internal wastegate has 2 ports on it. I think the little nipple goes to boost pressure and the larger nipple goes to manifold vaccum. Turbo gods, I need you.

1) with your wategate i'm assuming your talking about your internal wastegate actuator? i've only seen them with one port. its impossible to have one for boost and one for vaccuum. when you go into boost there is no vaccum, and vice versa. pics would be nice, one may be signal then one might be vent to atmosphere or something.

2) yea, if your getting blue smoke its the turbo. Check it for shaft play, the seals could be shot. Other then that run a -4an line with restrictor and a -10 drain. I had a turbo that i thought it was just a restrictor and a drain that was too small. I changed it all and still got random blue smoke. Swapped out my turbo (which had tons of play) and i got blue smoke the first 3 times taking it into boost, none since and it was about 3 months ago.

3) with your BOV its probably a check valve. I dont have one on mine and I wouldnt use one, but i'd check with the manufactur of the BOV, it could be specific to their design.

Which BOV do you have? I have never seen a filter on one.

For your dual port wastegate thingy...pulled from wikipedia.com

"A dual port wastegate adds a second port on the opposite side of the actuator. Air pressure allowed to enter this second port aids the spring to push harder in the direction of closing the wastegate. This is exactly the opposite of the first port. The ability to help the wastegate remain closed as boost pressure builds can be increased. This also adds further complexity to boost control, requiring more control ports on the solenoid or possibly a complete second boost control system with its own separate solenoid. Use of the second port is not necessary. Secondary ports, unlike primary ports, cannot be simply attached to a boost control line and require electronic control to be useful."

I appreciate the help guys. As for the BOV, it's an HKS SSQV. I will post a pic of the little black thing after I get off work. I checked the turbo and it has zero play, I think I over oiled the dang thing. But with the wastegate actuater, can I just put a cap over the second port and use it like a standard one? Here is the turbo and wastegate guys!

yeah you should be able to just cap the secondary one.

oh yea, make sure your oil drain is above your oil line in the pan to. Its a pretty controversial subject, a lot say it doesnt matter, a lot say it does. But to be safe i'd say make sure its as high as you can get it in the pan.

OK guys, my oil restrictor finally came in and after install, all the smoke literally disapeared. If u have a t series turbo I highly recomend getting one of these things. The BOV works fine without the little black thingy. And I caped off the second port on the wastegate actuater and everything works perfect. I'm still curious as to where I can get a map clamp, I read the sticky so I might try to make one.
