A performance shop in Wichita KS. I don't believe it. I thought horse power in Wichita, was increased by giving the horses more corn in their diet.

heres a bump for an interesting read. I found it in this thread about the history of the SRT-4.

The Eaton Roots-style supercharger is usually bolted directly to the intake manifold, where its odd-shaped discharge port can simply blow into the middle of the plenum. In the Neon SRT, the supercharger is mounted directly below the plenum, but instead of blowing up into it, it blows down into a collector pipe, around the front of the supercharger and back into the manifold. This design allows the manifold to retain a more conventional shape with air coming in one side of the plenum and four, equal-length runners running to each port. This design, it turns out, evens the cylinder-to-cylinder air distribution, ensuring a consistent air/fuel ratio and consequently better performance. The supercharger plumbing also allows the possibility of an intercooler. With boost turned up to 11 psi, the little 45-cubic inch blower is pumping its heart out. Discharge temps reach as high as 300 degrees. Marc Musial-engine developer, did some testing with an intercooler and found that it dropped peak temperatures by 150 degrees which bumped up power figures to 230 hp. However in high hopes that the concept would become a reality, this was left out to keep costs down.

the sad part is those pictures look like the pre 03 release with the 2.4 motor, granted those painted pt wheels look a hell of a lot better that the released srt wheels.

well theres always the obvious side skirts, lip and nostrils. I love those damn pt wheels on the car. With the smoother looking front because it has no nostrils those wheels really set it off.

and yes its the pre-release 2.4. those were probably taken after they unveiled the srt at the LA show for the first time as a production release.

brr, i believe the PT GT's came standard with them in painted silver, and the chrome was an option. the chrome ones also may have come with one of the higher end option packages on the PT GT too. i can't quite remember, though i know i've seen the painted ones on PT GT's before.

out of all of the pt gt's I have seen here in WNY I have NEVER seen one with painted wheels, all of them have been chrome...

Just got back into to town late last night. I am waiting to get the supercharger to start mocking up an intake. The main body will be machined from solid billet and well go from there. It would be nice to make it with the option to go intercooler, but we have limited room under hood and it would require some other accessory to be removed to make room for an intercooler option. Alcohol injection will have to be the intercooler option here I think.

M62 - on our 2.0 properly tuned should give us 250-300hp.....yeah baby!!

We are shooting for somewhere between the Cobalt SS and SRT4. That's pushing it for stock internals. I am positive that with forged guts, we could use the M90 if it will fit. We'll soon find out. Once we get one up and running, then we will start making upgrades for those of you who have forged guts. Maybe some methanol injection would be good. The GTP guys have been using it with good luck.

With proper tuning. it should be faster than the coabalt ,but just about on par with the SRT.....

Hey,

Quick intro as this is my first post: My name is Matt and I drive a 2gn, '00 5spd LE to be exact. I kick around Neons.org and NeonCanada.

I've also been dabbling with this S/C idea. There's no reason that it can't be done, but there are a few things to deal with. The biggest issue I see is getting a belt on it. From the pictures of the prototype SRT you can see it's front mounted. With the current 2gn setup this is difficult to obtain with the A/C and P/S where it is. While you could take all of that off, my car is a daily driver so those are options I don't particularily feel like dropping. If you can live without those, then you're swimming for room and belt access and it shouldn't take more than some custom bracketing and charge pipes. I did look at mounting it above the exhaust manifold (with a heat shield) and running a charge pipe to the stock intake manny, but again because of that assanine aluminum bracket, you can't get a belt on it. I'm sure I could find somewhere to put it and keep the options, but I won't have time to look until after a few months.

The other BIG factor is the RPM of the blower. For this reason and to get max boost you'll need to run it off of the alternator crank pulley. You may be able to use an old alt pulley for the charger, or just use the stock one less 2 ribs of it. Another problem with the blower is the HP it'll take to run it. I haven't busted out the calculations yet, but I don't know if a 4K series belt will handle the blower and the alt. It probably will, but I'm not 100% sure yet.

As far as an M-90 goes, that is a big blower. It'll be force feeding that 2.0 like no tomorrow and an M-112 is way too big. The M-60/62 is a nice place to start with a 2.0, and will build more than enough boost as it can feed up to 4.0L engines. IMO once you get it all setup and running pimp, you could upgrade to the M-90 later to feed the need for more boost.

Just like turbo, good bottom end, add the fuel goodies, and you're set.

Right now I'm kicking myself as the last time I was at the wreckers there was a mint M-62 off a GTP there for only $150. Probably gone now :(
