How does this sound?

Bottom: JE Turbo Pistons .020 Over bore, JE Rings, Eagle Specialty Forged Rods, rod bearings, main bearings

Top: Crane #12 cam, Fidanza Adjustable Cam Gear, timing belt, head gasket set

I'd love to do a complete top and bottom rebuild, but that gets expensive. Since the hahn turbo system for a 2003 hits about $4500 i needed to watch what i spend on internals.

But thoes parts should do the trick right?

I wish there was a cheaper system out for the 03's. Any alternatives?

What is your budget for the complete build?

Honestly take a step back and think about what else you could do with that money. Do you have 7K saved up or are you going to go into debt to do this build?

There is. Get the 02 Hahn system, and run Megasquirt. Then you have control of timing as well as fuel, and you should be able to spend that extra money on the 20g upgrade that will push you up into the 400hp range.

for 7k you could pay someone to swap a srt motor in.

Or buy a car that has one swapped in already

Yes, but then to get over that 300whp mark, you need to dump a bunch more money into it. With just the Hahn kit, and no fuel support, you could be over 400whp or at least damn close to it for 5k.

PFFT, I definatly dont have $7000 saved, Im just crazy enough to go into debt to be able to drive a boosted neon -_-

But, yeah thats sweet that the 02 hahn system works with MS.. It just got a lot cheaper and more realistic... Even though I'm crazy enough to go into debt to enjoy a turbo neon... It still sucks spending money on it, than I have to hear my girlfriend yell at me lol......

esteinmaier... Ur kidding right? 400hp at the wheels seems a little high lol (dont get my hopes up)

*** Oh crap, do the stage 1 and 2 hahn kits have anything different besides the IC? It seems like I could go cheaper than $1100 on the intercooler yet still have good quality parts...

it is never a good idea to go into debt to modify a car. if you were to put the $7000 setup into it, you will NEVER get $7000 out of it if you were to sell it.

plus if you have any problems then you will have to go into debt more to fix the problems.

its just not a good idea. you would be better off trading your car for an srt.

Heck if you wanna do it then do it. Im looking into the 03+ Hahn kit for my 04 with a built bottom end... Yea its a waste of money to some but then again im not going into debt in the least to boost it :)

Well, my turbo's specs are similar to the 16g kit, and I'm running an SRT intercooler. I'm going for 375 with my 2.0 SOHC with a magnum cam and a few other tricks using a Megasquirt. With the right engine work and tuning, there should be no reason a 20g wouldn't be able hit and pass the 400whp mark. Hell, Hahn rates them for 450, if I remember right.

If I were doing your setup, I would call hahn and get the 20g turbo and manifold, along with the intercooler, charge piping and intake. Unless you have the ability and skill to fabricate your piping, it's worth the money to not have to pay someone else to do it for you. Have them leave off the fuel system altogether. Then do a Megasquirt and use large injectors. You'll need better than 93 octane fuel to break the 400whp mark, but you do have some options there. I'm using e85, which is 105 octane or higher, but I'll be running 1000cc injectors on a slightly more intricate fuel system with a return line a 1:1 rising rate fuel pressure regulator.

Of course, now getting that power to the ground will be another story. A PT clutch won't put up to that kind of abuse, and with an open differential, you'll just spin your transmission into oblivion burning out in 4th gear at 110mph.

Im definatly going for this, I'm probably going to wait for the warmer weather though. I've got 2 guys to help install and one of them has a sweet 4 car garage with a nice lift. Than hopefully I can find a good shop around here to tune it right.

I'm not really sure I want to be at 400whp, but having the ability would be extremely nice. When this is all done, it'll be the first time I drove a boosted car. I drove a stock turbo PT but I'm guessing this would pull quite a bit harder.. So i'll take it easy for a while

I think im a little to over excited about getting this all done lol, anyone else ever get extemely excited over a turbo? -_-

Boost is addictive. If you hit 250, you'll drive around on that, and a couple days later, you'll wonder what 300 feels like, and so on. And then eventually you'll get to the point where you can't keep the tires on the ground in any gear, and then you'll still want more power, but you'll only use it at the track.

I would spend some of your money either 1) on an 04-05 srt tranny and brakes of some sort, or 2) on an LSD, staged clutch, axles, and brakes of some sort

No point in going for 250-400 hp if you cant stop it, right? :D

Oh yea. I should do something like that on mine. Oh well. Stopping is over-rated.
