New engine! The car should be at the neon meet during the drag racing day. This should be in it.

Looks like that's just a built motor so people can get some comparison times between stock motor/turbo kit and built motor/turbo kit.

The old motor had a wrist pin problem, and was an excellent excuse to build a stronger bottom end.

That would be enough justification for me.

Yeah the problem had nothing to do with the kit. We could have still used the other motor, but I got my $600 tax check, so I just built this because I was going to anyways. And now we can compare times and see how much psi we can get out of this no return line setup. It will be at the neon meet at some point probably the drag racing day.

Wow, Adam's car is awesome! Tuned well, feels great. I'll let Adam chime in.

Yeah I'll get some videos tomorrow. It's been busy at work so I haven't had too much time.

P.S. i upgraded to the stage 2 S256 and the external wastegate just because the turbo was huge and badass looking lol.

yeah i heard about that. i wish i could afford the stage 2 kit.. only going with stage 1.. i dont really want to build my motor yet.. that will come probably at 105k even though i should just do it all now and get it done with.. if i had people helping me do you think i could get the project done in 3 days? if all we did was work on it? and i rebuilt the motor?

Just finished reading the 8 pages of this thread. Seems pretty astounding. I wouldn't mind getting my hands on this kit and seeing how I'm deployed (and got extended :banghead: ), I'll have plenty of money to get this plus a few other things. I'm really interested in turning my car into a Graphite SRT. Or maybe I should just buy a pre-swapped SRT 1st Gen? I don't know lol...

Anyway, is this kit available for self-install or is it best to have you guys install/tune? I have a buddy with a SRT-4 and knowledge of forced induction, but I don't think I could wait 2+ weeks to have it finished...

Very tempting kit, nonetheless

Well, Adam's car blows an SRT away hands down. Some internals, and there's really no point in buying an SRT engine in my opinion.

We can install it for you if you want, but it wouldn't be free like it was for the test car. Probably in the realm of 600 dollars or so.

Where you located at? Illinois, if I remember correctly, yea? That'd be the problem... with me being in the military, I don't exactly have a couple weeks to spare to have a kit installed and I'm based out of North Carolina. No offense or anything, but I'd rather see people and chill during my leave and off time. Although I wouldn't mind paying $600 to have it properly installed, beats the hell out of other shops and stuff.

That's good to hear about the first car. Is that the one you mentioned to me in PM's about how he just went to the bigger turbo?

I'll let you know when it comes close to me coming home if I'm going to buy this. I'm still wondering though, on a scale of 1-10, how difficult is it to install and tune with someone who knows a fair bit of turbo's and forced induction? And about how long till completion, including a proper tune?

well man it is for sure a great kit.. with all the odds and ends i dont think its something that just goes in and your good to go.. everything i have been reading the install if with do pistons and rods can be done in a long weekend if you have access to all the tools needed to pull the engine.. after that though tuning is the most important part.. that will take time.. and there are always odds and ends during that time which will need to be fixed and stuff. other then that it sounds like a pretty fair deal.. im buying in on the kit.. i dont think these guys would steer me in the wrong direction. so far they have been very helpful and im sure they will be helpful for the install.. ill be asking them lots of questions.. but anyways. good luck with your purchase.

I thought, from what I read, that you can pretty much make it all "bolt-on" if you're sticking with a stock motor. Only when you want to work on the engine do you have to pull the motor and stuff. If I have to pull the motor and take it apart then that's a definite negative on buying this since my car sits in the barracks parking lot and not a garage. Don't really have any buddy's who have a garage either, most that live off base live in apartments.

I still got time to think about this and talk to my buddy. Just trying to make the best out of the money I plan on spending when I return ($4,500 ish lol).

you dont have to work on your motor im sorry my post is misleading.. it is bolt on.. its just your limited to how much power you can make when you dont build your bottom end.

Ok, that's what I thought. It's alright. But with just doing a basic "bolt-on", you can achieve the aclaimed 250HP.. right? Or is that after engine work?

The stock engine will handle 250. A built engine will handle much, much more.

i thought that even if you get internals, that at about 350hp or something then the crank dont like staying on the engine....correct me if im wrong lol it could be.

and on that vid, why were all of those check engine lights on after that? haha

the engine light is on before it and after it.. the computer is trying to read stuff its not hooked up to. when you boost a ngc car expect around 15 codes.. its not bad. you can use resistors to get rid of them though

I'm making more than that now on my own. I've heard that they don't like to stay together around 750-800.

Sounds like an LSD would be a good idea too to put the extra power to both wheels. I am so wanting a turbo for my SXT.
