I want to be double checked, block off plate BOV

Post by Phasmatis » Sat Jul 19, 2008 4:22 pm

04 SRT-4

So today I put on a block off plate for the surge valve, threw on an injen intake and then AGP pipe with an HKS valve.

Few little questions, I didndt know what to do with the red and pink vacuum lines so i blocked em. The HKS nipple vacuum is T into a vacuum right behind the throttle body, i dont know what it is lol. Everything else is hooked up just fine, car runs and drives fine lol I just want to make sure the pink and red vacuum are find or if there is a suggestion for them.

The pink valve is for the surge valve so should I have hooked this up to the HKS Nipple? The red is for the TIP sensor or whatever it is right, what can i do to get this to work so i can get rid of my check engine light (i assume thats what it is from).

This is my first turbo car and i am very shocked by the whistle sound from the injen intake under load. Its loud, kinda scared me didnt know wtf it was lol.

Also, what does a boost leak sound like? I dont have a air compressor or anything to test so I will probably have to take it to a shop and have them test for boost leaks. I checked the pipes etc and tightened them just in case.

Any info would be appreciated :) THanks all

i went for a drive today to try and sort things out... Pink vacuum connected to BOV -will- cause compressor surge not cool.

I def have a boost leak as the car will NOT hold boost. Gets up to about 15 settles to about 12 like it should then it drops to about 7...

u dont need the red or pink line anymore. if you have a boost leak check the block off plate first.

dont remove the pink one, just let it vent to the air with no cap. the red one can be removed all together with no cap at the solinode(sp)

or remove all of the vacuum lines and clean up the engine bay a bit. There's a how-to on srtforums on how to route the vacuum lines, and since you have an '04, you can remove them all.
