ok so i got the DOHC turbo kit and im gonna be selling it cause i found an easier way. Double check my plan but i got a garret T3 turbo from the junkyard (MINT, no shaft play) for 50 bucks with mani off a Volvo. So i cut the mani off right at the end where it connects to the turbo and i welded it to the pipe between the header and the cat( im gonna take the cat off) the turbo now bolts on fine and fits mint. Idk if anyone has done this before but it was sooooo easy. no more looking for adapter plates or anything. Ill be running the pipes, lines and shit next week when it gets shipped.
Anything wrong with this setup in anyones opinion.
Also im still up in the air about the ECU what system i should use.

Could be interesting. It puts me in mind of a remote turbo. The next challenge would be pluming the intake.

hopefully ill have pics up by next week, i gotta go get a new digi cam cause i smashed my other one

yeah i havent really figured out the plumbing for the intercooler yet but i have a bunch of 2.5 inch mandrel bent on its way so ill figure it out when it gets there. Lots of couplings anyone? haha its gonna be ghetto as hell untill i can get hold of a tig welder to weld it all together

depends on what kind of boost levels you are looking at running. a rrfpr cause suffice if you are planning on lower boost levels. otherwise i would seriously consider megasquirt.

Im not gonna run more than 10 psi untill i build the bottom end, i dont wanna make more than 230hp cause im scared of blowin the motor(i heard it starts to give around 250 but i wanna be safe) what do you guys suggest for ECU? and how hard is mega squirt to handle? im really new to tunning so i dont wanna blow anything up haha.

So you're welding it to the end of the stock cast iron mani, or an aftermarket/RT header? A cast would be better for retaining heat, as the thermal expansion is what drives the turbo more so than the exhaust volume. Heat wrap would work, but IDK how durable a tubular header would be under that kind of abuse. But then the OEM cast mani is known to crack also...
It will definately be a cool project, but I would still keep funds aside for a log type SOHC turbo mani. for future use. Meh, if you fab some support brackets it should help with the added weight. Pushing the envolope is what it's about! If no one did this shit we wouldn't have half the cool things we have today.

It should work fine as long as you get the fuel system taken care of.
A friend of mine turbo'd his focus. His 1st setup was an ebay header. Then he mad an adapter piece for his wastegate and T3 flange. Basically doing what it sounds like you did.

Im gonna be useing the stock mani for now if it cracks ill get another off another neon, fortunately for me there is a junkyard almost right up the street that has 3 sxts in it

oh yeah and has anyone used Srt-4 injectors for there 2.0 turbo? are they sufficient? (again im only going to be pushing 7-10lbs)
