hey guys i got a quick quest. I got an adapter plate and im still doing the homework but im not really sure what parts and other stuff ill need to have the full setup, can someone kinda tell me what ill all need except for the plate, turbo, manifold, ect. i was curious where and what type of vacuum lines to get, downpipe, gaskets, bov, intercooler, plumbing, washers, and seals. u kno all this good stuff to get my neon going. im just not sure of what exactly to do and how to do it. any instructions or guidelines??? thanks guys and sry to be so difficult lol.

Just ask 1 question. Solve that problem, and ask another one. If you want an instruction manual and all the parts, buy a kit.

I'll take care of the first one. For vacuum lines, if you want flexible stuff, windshield washer hose works pretty good, but is not as durable as nylon line that you can order online.

what year neon do you have? If you have a 03+ don't waste your time. sorry but it's a lost cause...

check out the stickied topics in this section. they will answer most, if not all, of your questions. if at that point you still unsure about some of it feel free to ask away.

go screw yourself? :thefinger:
I'm simply stating that Esteinmaier knows his stuff when it comes to going turbo and megasquirt. I will never do megasquirt, nor will i ever go turbo. But if i did, i would go straight to him.

Excon if you "will" never go turbo or MS then how can you say dont waste your time on a 03+ if you obviously dont have any expierence with either.

What are you talking about? :laughing3: What's wrong with turboing a 03+? Uhh Nothing that I remember holding you back except needing a standalone...

And FYI as much as I can see how you like esteinmaier, there are plenty of other people on here that have the experience with megasquirt and turboing just as he does(not bashing) just saying, don't limit yourself to one person, ask other people that have done it, get different opinions...

i'll get this back on topic since some people are trying to make personal attacks instead of helping this guy out:

In my opinion (and remember opinions are like assholes: everyone's got one) I would not bother putting a turbo on my stock 2L SOHC. I would do the engine swap and start from there. There's so much more you can do with it; the performance parts made for the SRT-4 outnumbers what is made for the neon.

...That being said you'd like to turbo your SOHC 2.0; that's fine. It's up to you! Be warned that it will be VERY COSTLY. Depending on what you do, and if you do the swap yourself or not, it could cost as much if not more than a motor swap.

Actually I am not attacking you, and I was helping him out because your giving him false info...And I'm not sure where you got the idea of turboing an sohc 2.0 would cost more than an engine swap, If thats the case, then your getting a really really cheap motor(price wise)...I could only see that if you were buying an already made kit like the hahn...and that thing about the oil pump is kinda wrong, you do not have to upgrade the oil pump, it is not necessary, whatever else in that thread is ok to go by, but still ask the people who have done it already...

Actually, the 2.4's have a more delicate oil pump than the 2.0. It's not that the pump is any worse, but since the stroke is longer on the 2.4, the crank actually holds a wider radius, making imbalances impact main bearings and the oil pump more pronounced.

I prefer the 2.0l over the 2.4 just simply because if you're doing the work, you know what's in it, and you can make it work for how you want to drive it, whereas if you do the SRT swap, you have an SRT motor. As cool as an SRT motor is, it's still got a teeny turbo on it, and it's instant spool and non-existant top end drive me up the wall. To each their own, but generally, you'll spend about the same to do either one the right way.
