SRT Turbo Problem

Post by mopar4life » Tue Dec 30, 2008 4:41 pm

I got out on the highway today to get around a car, downshifted to 3rd at a 40 roll and planted it, well it made 10 psi until 4K RPM then the boost dropped to zero and it struggled to get to 80. I can brake boost it in any gear and come to boost but soon as I let off the brake it loses boost. Any ideas what this is? Boost leak? Weak wastegate?

Might have a boost leak, sounds like the time my friend blew off an intercooler hose

Do you have tbolt clamps?

I checked all the hoses except the one on the bottom of the turbo and they were tight.

Yeah the charge pipe is a bitch...I would check that out. It's tons easier if you move the battery out of the way

Whatever was wrong I fixed. I took the battery off and put it back on the PCM reset and its making 17psi in 3rd gear now. OMG will it fly..

I'd rather have a N/A car so you don't have to worry about boost leaks and all that shit...but something about the BOV and turbo spooling is rather sexy

I think OP's SRT-4 is stock, that ain't too fast...

There is this camm'd out Vet that raced my friend in a .50 trim

Holy shit, vetts sound like monsters @ 140mph

Also a supercharged GTO that seems angry when it's not going 200mph+

Turbo>Supercharger lulz, anywho I got another question. After about 4500rpm the boost starts to drop off until redline. Ive heard the factory wastegate just isnt strong enough to hold full boost all the way to redline. Would an AGP solve that or what should I do?

from what i've read so far the agp will do a better job holding boost till redline.
