I went to a tries plus today and was talking to the mechanic about my car, and he said i could turbo with my engine, which i know i could, i just have to like, go through that big process and whatnot, but he said the best thing would be just to super charge it, anyone have any thoughts on it? anyone on here done it?

actually the best thing to do is to turbocharge it because a supercharger is a lot of custom one off stuff.

There are several threads about superchargers and why we don't use them on Neons. Do a search and look into the ones with the larger # of posts.

The mechanic might want to ask why the Cobalt is now turbocharged as well... on the neon the turbo is the preferred route

There are a few good threads about supercharging the neon but nothing has yet been finished by the 2gn community.

the way i look at it is, turbo a 4 and i6 but supercharge the v blocks. Dont know why but thats usually the best routes.

I'll help a n00b out.
It's more beneficial to supercharge a larger motor because the gains of the engine will outweigh the added weight, and the drag from the belt of the supercharger.

Smaller engines don't make a lot of power. Have you put your A/C on and tried to get up to speed? You can feel when the A/C turns on because you have a lapse of power for a few seconds. Then it suddenly returns. Superchargers are belt driven like A/C so superchargers do take away from engine power at first (but then they produce power).

Every engine has exhaust. A turbo runs off the exhaust gasses. Think of a windmill. The wind pushes the blades which makes power. That "wind" is exhaust gas. It spins the blades of the turbine which compresses air and feeds it back to the engine.
