what kind of boost are you looking to get out of it. If your not looking for ridiculous boost. run a mitsu turbo. Heck pm and i can probably hook you up with one at a decent price. as it stands right now we have 4 first gen dsm's in our shop and 2nd gens in our shop that we are building. a evo III 16g big is an awsome little unit. they spool quick and can toss a decent amount of air

Doesn't matter since the thread is 6 months old and the OP said he's not doing it anyways...

Ahh, the 1g talon tsi was my first car, wish I kept it.

The evo 8 turbo is a good unit. The FP red is a good step up if you ever need to replace it, my buddy put one on his evo 8 and pushed 475 whp. I think the stock one did 375ish on E85.

well a bunch of crap happened today and i actually ended up selling my talon for 600 bucks :( but that was just for the shell. So i am no offically going to start project Srt-4g :) we are going to do a test fit in the next week or two just to see how much bs im going to have to go threw, and then ill make my mind if i actually want to go threw with this. its goin to be alot of custom fab work but i dnt believe it will be too bad. If the mock up goes well im going to start fabbing up some motor mounts and see if i can't have it all mounted up by the end of august ( seems like a long time away but i have a four month old and in the process of moving, so im lucky to get 1 day a week at the shop to work on my own stuff)

yuppers. im goin to do it fwd for now and get it up and running then im goin to attempt to put my 3 bolt rear end in it for shits and grins after that. but like i said this is going to take me awhile. I really don't see it being that hard. the worst part is going to be the wiring, but if i go with dsmlink ( tuning platform) or ms i can make my own wiring harness and only run what i need. the awd conversion however is going to be ALOT of cutting and welding

i need to check that out. my buddys are tryin to talk me into making rwd, which would be tight but thats also a TON of extra fab work. i would have to cut out a large part of the floor and fab up a tranny tunnel and more than likely partial tube chassis the rear end to run like a 4 link set up or something. so im probably just going to try and make it fwd then convert it to awd once all the bugs get worked out. i managed to get to the shop for a couple hours so i could strip done the shell im going to send to the jy and got the motor out of the project car. so if anyone needs parts i have tons and i will sell them dirt cheap, id put up an ad but im still a noob on this site and need like 10 more posts, but hopefully i will have them by 2 night

Read that for the love of god. Edit: Never mind seems all the information was taken out of that thread years ago. Pretty much it doesnt work with out building:
Front and Rear subframes
VC support/Driveshaft mounts
Engine Mounts
Exhaust
Completely new front control arms and toe links
Once all that is done you'll see the IM hits the firewall and you have to move everything forward

NOONE that I know of has gotten a 4g63 neon to run infact if you do all of the stuff above I think you might be the closest.

Ive used an Ebay turbo and found them to be pretty good with some work. The oil seals are made of a really strange gasket paper like material the solution is to replace with good oil seals from whatever turbo you have a copy of. Bearings are also bad MSC sells radial bearings that fit perfect. The castings are rough I never bothered with that.

I put the Tbird back to stock before selling the ebay turbo is on the omni with probably 15,000mi on it still works very well for a total investment of $275~ I couldnt be happier

i know its not goin to be a direct swap man. lol ive been a dsm'er for almost 8 years now. I have a very exstensive background in custom fab work. when i was at school in wyotech we put and irs, rearend and engine out of a 350z into my buddies 78 camaro. i just want to do something different and shake the neon world up a little bit

im not trying to come off like some cocky know it all man, im just saying i think it would be pretty cool to atleast try. I love doing something just to show people that it can be done. as far as the intake mani goes thats an easy fix, i can make a sheet metal intake mani and shorten the runners and make a large plenum to compansate for it. and we honestly have like 5 1g talons at our shop that i can molest for parts. the biggest thing im worried about in the whole ordeal is the axles

This swap has been around forever its just so much most people never finish. That was what a good friend of mine did and gave up when the IM and fire wall wanted to be in exactly the same place. All the fab work was junk at that point Im talking 6" of clearance between head and firewall

I wish you the best of luck let me know with any questions Ill see if he can help

alrighty man. This week when i get a free day im going to put together a mock up motor with all the spare parts that we have broke and put it in and try to get some getto motor mounts fabd up just to see what we have to work with, and thats when im going to make the decison if i want to go threw with it. i mean the car means nothing to me i was just going to haul it into the jy but figured what the hell ill give it a try
Never let anyone tell you that you can't. The only reason why people say that, is because someone told them they can't and they listened.

Just cut a hole and put the intake in the cabin. Then you can hit it with some hill billy NOS whenever you feel like it.
