Increasing nitrous shot

Post by xXB00ST3DXx » Sat May 24, 2014 7:12 am

So now that I have my engine rebuilt I'm looking to bump up the shot from a 75 to a 100. Before the build I ran a 100 shot once (carefully) and I wanna say around 4-5k the car started to sputter and loose power. I did not have my afr gauge hooked up so I couldn't tell what was going on but I'm almost certain it had to do with fuel restraints. So my question is I'm still running a stock fuel system, should I try upgrading injectors? Pump? Or both? Is anyone currently running a 100 shot?

Running nitrous without an AFR gauge is just plain wreckless. I'm assuming you mean wet shot?

The rebuild wasn't the result of spraying, it was just normal high mileage wear and tear. & yes it's a NX wet kit with my wideband working properly now

i dont think running that small of a shot will require a larger pump but to be certain you would have to watch your fuel pressure, might want to install a gauge, its good to know what that is doing anyway. as for injectors, stock is what you need. all the supplemental fuel comes from the fuel jet in the nitrous nozzle.

Ok that makes sense. It would probably be more appropriate to install an adjustable fuel press reg incase I did need to increase or decrease?

that would only work if your computer compensated for it (which it doesnt) so by increasing or decreasing fuel pressure you mess with the factory fuel mapping and it will run like poo. what you want is to keep up with flow (demand) by increasing the fuel pump output not the pressure. again i'm not even sure its needed.

You won't need bigger injectors. Your issue was probably timing or spark related. What octane gas were you running? And what plugs did you have in the car?

If you weren't running 93 octane fuel that's an issue. You'll also want 2 range colder plugs when running a big shot like that.
