Whose interested?

Post by INVUJerry » Mon Jul 03, 2006 5:51 pm

In a 2.25" or 2.5" side exit catback? I'm trying to get maxxfab to do something for us poor little N/A neons. They're saying it could possibly be made of aluminized steel, with a stainless tip to reduce costs, but I would need an order of atleast 20 people, I will probably post a link to this post in the group buy section. I'm mainly waiting on them to quote me a price though.

i would be interested in 2.5 if it had an AAR style tip and was cheap. of course, it would have to have sometype of a muffler too.

unfortunately for the cost it would probably not be worth the little gain that is to be had.

^^^
Big name, expensive crap.....
Ive seen 2 year old borla systems rust up and when you try to get them warrantied they give you nothing but a hassle...
Depending on the price and how loud it is, id bee interested in getting rid of my flowmaster setup for an AAR cuda style side exit.....
But I wont be interested if they use a fiberglass packed POS as a muffler or a resonator....

I wouldn't want anything hella cheap/crappy either. It would most likely be like the maxxfab 3" side exit exhaust, only 2.5". If I can't get enough people to do this, I'll just make somethin up myself.

it can be done for pretty cheap i have a side exit exhaust from my local muffler shop. its made with 2.5" pipe and has a turbo pack for a muffler. my car is lowered a little like 1" and i live on a bad road and don't drag it off. the sound is decent and the power gain was a max of probably 1-2 but the weight i lost was alot.my total cost for it was approx. $85. my tip is off of a grand prix that i got for free from work.

Not a bad idea

Post by SiberianNeon0 » Sun Jul 16, 2006 10:11 pm

OK dumb question...Is this a single exhaust system or would it be like the R/T / ACR with two exits? I may be interested if I could use it with my Flowmaster 40. But idk cuz my inlet and outlets are only 2 inch... :? But for the gain it would give and the loss of backpressure I would hope it isn't too expensive...

It would be just like the maxxfab side exit exhaust for the SRT-4. I still haven't recieved any info from maxxfab, so I'm gonna give them another e-mail.

Just a note...most states, any exhaust exiting in front of the rear "axle" is illegal and won't pass inspection. Not that that is THAT big a deal, but something to consider. Side exhaust is cool, I admit. :)

Well, neon's don't have a rear axle, so I guess we're good, right?

Wow thats a nice setup! So correct me if I am wrong but it would be a design similar to the R/T and SRT-4 with two outlets right? Kinda like ur sig pic invujerry?

it would exit infront of the drivers-side rear wheel, most likely single tip

I get it now...

 Wow that is wicked sexy-like. Depending on the cost I wouldn't mind looking into something like that. I live in Buffalo and I don't think my Flowmaster is going to handle to crappy salt we put on the roads...I'm sure it would sound nice too. A little low growl until you floor it...(too bad my neon is just an SXT with bolt-ons...)

[quote=]After talking it over, we concluded that there just isn’t enough time to develop a new product for the NA Neons. We believe there is a market for them, but we are completely covered up with the production of currently offered products. Coming up with something new would really put a strain on our all ready full schedule.

Hope you understand.
