NA Magnum Build-up *read pg 9 for intake manifold update*

Have a question about how to make horsepower going the all motor route, here's where to ask it.

I have disconnected my battery a billion times (well, maybe a million!) and never had that code...

Glad you got it. Maybe howell does have 1% honesty left in em! :D

i believe one of the engineers stated the magnum motor can safely make power up to 7800.. but the stock ecu doesnt allow that rev limit. check on .org i know theres a post.. good luck finding it tho.

i know it says 50 - but how can i know that this WILL go away???

can i turn it on off on off 50 times or do i actually have to crank it 50 times????????

all right now im not so worried about the CEL

Don't worry about that CEL. That code in itself shouldn't even make the CEL come on....if you check your codes it will show up, but it shouldn't make it come on. I disconnect my battery so much, that code is always stored. It doesn't hurt a thing...just informative. I wanna know how that ECU makes your car run! I think I might order a Street/Strip one now for my birthday in.....uh.....November.

forget the street/strip! get the race pcm!

i just got around to really nailing it and wow!

effortlessly chirped the tires into 3rd gear WOW! 100mph almost came up too fast. i was too busy burying the tach to watch my speed and it was almost instantaneous.... bottom end has a nice gain, theres no bog anymore even down as low as 1200rpm. even though i yanked my butterflies, im guessing the extremelly advanced timing of the af/x-race kinda nullified that midrange loss.... top end is just insane now. i cant wait to get my full 2.5" exhaust and junk my stock exhaust

this thing hauls!

told you man.

no one ever believes me

your motor peaks power at around 6900. there's really no point in going past 7200 unless you have a 14 or greater cam.

i took mine all the way to the top (went past 8k on my stock tach) and you feel the motor struggling past 7500.

i used to launch at 4000, shift out of first at 7500 when the tires stopped spinning, and shifted the remaining gears at 7200.

with my old na setup i took 5th gear to 7100-7200 rpm.right around that point, car was running out of juice, i was running out of road, and i was going about 150-155

P1684 should not throw the CEL...
P1684 is normal and will NOT harm your engine or performance, as stated earlier its just for informational purposes..
Sounds like I might need to place an order for one of those pcm's too... after taxes of course

its a semi-new pcm. give it time. the mopar 1g pcm used to complain whenever you disconnected the battery, would show the cel then it would go away but the code would still be there. just ignore it you you pansy

Incorrect. The multiplication from staying in a higher ratio gear will still accelerate you faster past peak or near peak hp. For instance, if you had only 120 whp at 7200 rpm, and were to shift into third gear from second gear, you would need 172whp at whatever rpm shifting into third from second at 7200 puts you to accelerate you at the same rate . It may not feel like it on the buttdyno, but it shows on the track.

yeah i read that on neons.org how to *correctly* find your shift points. because our engines produce such little torque, and at that its a pretty flat torque band compared to other cars, the best shift point is to shift at the highest rpm the engine is safely capable of. regardless of what gear your in. the theoretical power thats making it to the ground is ALWAYS higher than the next highest gear regardless of gearing or rpm.

try it for yourself, go on neons.org and it should be in the archived posts. theres a scientific way of figuring it out and thats what proves what i just said

im not a noob but i can NEVER find anything via search unless i know CERTAIN WORDS in the thread. can u give a link?? nothing came up about that when i searched the archives for "shift point"

Talking about high rpms, im not sure about that, i think my car stops pullin at 7500 rpms probably because of the intake, im not really sure if 8k or 7.5k is the best for me.

yeah, i hope i find a magnum in a junkyard in a few months when i have money...

id p&p the head & intake, and shave it .040", and probably i'd install the 3.94 tranny too.

i'd definitely be the fastest n/a 2G -:D

i was considering a #14 or #16 and then i realized how much other shit ill need just to run them. instead im gonna buy 15x7 kosei k1's.... theyre cheaper overall and rather than only helping with acceleration, theyll help with handling, gas mileage, and theyre much easier to install

what are you going to do with the rims you have now?! or are the koseis for track only?

the stock 15" rims ill probably get rid of and just mount the 185/60-15 goodyear eagle ls's on them. thatll make for one light as rim/tire :) :)

i swear, after that im finishing my exhaust and thats it - NO MORE! hahah, it never ends

i have proof as to the rpm capabilities of stock magnum springs...

7800rpm baby! i wouldnt advise it though as it was obnoxiously loud and just alot of machinery-clanging-together-sounding
