Im also going to work a bit on the TB / maybe bore it out a bit to complement the blaster. I still havent figure out what to do to match the tb butterfly to the bore out...any hints?

Boring the plastic TB is not a good idea. It is too thin to enlarge enough to get any benefits. Plus the inside has a special coating to help air flow. Removing that coating might even make it flow less, even tho it is a mm or two larger.

If you want it to flow well with a larger TB, just mount the TB to the IM and be done.

No silicone couplers/tubing etc. to worry about on the vacuum side. Of course this will not work with neon type TB's, unless you make a flange for them.

hmmm well my plan was to coupler the tb right into the blaster (you can see the end of it in one of my pictures). So i guess ill be fine untill i buy a 60mm one

Correct. I basically cut the end off mine, and glued a flange inside of the tube. But then the tube I was using was 3" OD anyways. I just eliminated the couplers, and direct mounted the Ford TB. Running the 52mm neon TB really made no noticeable difference from the oem IM.

It's plastic. Not sure if PC would work, plus if you want to modify it later on, it would be a waste of $. This is the beauty of GBI's: They are cheap, and you aren't too afraid of hacking them for your future needs. It's not like it is a $400 AMM IM.

Nice plug tho. :P

all I used for glue was the jb weld actually. I smoothed it out with a dremmel tool and sand paper.

I should've written a diy guide now that I think about it. I might make another with the 2gn that's getting replaced

Keep a very close eye on it with JB weld.

Permatex Plastic Weld is what you should have used. It is very durable. My GBI has been through the car being totaled with the core support/radiator pushing it towards the engine a couple inches. It has also survived a few intake backfires. One good crack can cause a run away idle.

Image

JB weld is kind of brittle, and does not like to flex. Plastic Weld is 5000 psi tensile strength. the runners or pipe will break first.

It will prolly hold up, but just keep an eye on it. If the paint starts cracking around the joints, it would be time for a re do.

AhA well. A bit too late for that lol. I got it installed already . Ran into some trouble w the man sensor wires...they were too short for where I put the outles hehe. Also the radiator house has a very small kink but nothing too bad.

Well I've been driving it for weeks now and I love it. Gives a faster throttle response and a nice sound.

I am going to start a 2gn ghetto blaster soon to replace that one tho

Why? The 1st gen manifold is better then the 2nd gen one. The other posters are correct JB weld will not last. Also did you use PVC or ABS pipe? And what did you do to the runners as they went into the plenum? did you shave them down so that there is no real lip there? It does look realy good and i give you props for doing it. Just need to tweek a few things.

 It speaks for itself but I'll say it anyway. 2gns are plenty so it would be easier to pick one up unless you just wanted a DIY project.
