well as some of you know i've been searching hard for a car A. that i like B. that's in my price range....i've looked at numerous srt4's a couple newer r/t's couple vw's but i think i found the car i might be gettin...
99 civic si with a type R motor swap
completely stock outside(no badging) it's lowered on true coilovers with newer civic stock wheels....tinted windows all kinds of gauges and vafc...didn't get to drive it b/c i actually went down and looked at an integra that i found online but then saw then civic as i was leaving...i already went and got approved for the loan but tomorrow i am goin back there to take a good long drive in it and i might get it....
i know it's not a neon and it's not a typical civic...let me know what you guys think

lol.. you dont wanna know. I'm antiHonda. I'll give credit where it's due and a nice car is a nice car, but I wouldnt ever associate myself with the Honda Crowd. I'd be the only Honda in an all Neon meet and the such.

IMO I would never buy a car that has been swapped or messed with.....It is always a good idea to buy something that an old lady drove for 15 years like an old 89 crx or something......then start from scratch and build your own car with your own style......when you buy a car that has been modded you are bound to run into problems and since you didnt do any of the work or have any of the work done for you then you really dont know what may be wrong with it if it decides to go haywire........especially with a honda.....never trust a honda owner to sell you a modded honda why is the person selling the car......honda owners never really try to part with there cars unless there is a problem so they usually then try to sell it for as much money as possible and pick up a new one to start hookin up........just My Opinion

If it is at a dealer then it is at a dealer for a reason.....Like I said....only IMO.......I am sure some punk gangsta kid is the one who traded it in or got it repoed or what ever......If it is a certified used honda and come with a 3 year waranty and all the parts on the car are covered then I say go for it......If not then I would be VERY CAUTIOUS.....I have many friends who work at dealerships.....You may not want to know what goes on behind closed doors.......Anyways.......Civic or no Civic Good Luck with your choice and I hope your new vehicle of choice works out for you

thanks...yea tuff decision on a new car....but the car's blue book value is 11.2k and they have it at 12.9 if they come down to at least 12 then it's a deal...b/c they are giving me full trade in on my car that i owe...which is 6250

They will not certify a used honda that has Mods, plain and simple.

I would be worried that whoever did the swap didn't do a quality job. Odds are you will run into repairs for somthing the previous owner screwed up. and since is a Rare motor, it will cost just that much more.
If you are wanting a faster car for around 250 a month I would look for the 97-99 Eclipse GSX. AWD for those fun launches and snowy days, the 4g63 motor is very easy to upgrade, and there is no longer a Crankwalking issue.
Slap on a front mount, a fuel pump, new injectors, a 16g turbo and a good tune and go eat some ricers for breakfest, some camaro's for lunch and a Corvett for Dinner...

thanks for the advice crash but i'm not a first time buyer and i'm not gonna jump into something that seems shady....
and i am not gettin that car....too many red flags went up when i was at the place and while i was driving the car....first off it has direct port nitrous which i don't want a car with n2o ran through it...also it sputtered around 5500 sometimes.....and there was alot of shady things about the dealer anyways....
so some of you guys might be happy that i still have the neon

but dunno what i might get in the future...

Mine only concern was the fact that it was a modded car from the dealer..........Unless it is ugraded with factory install's that the dealer provides then I would never risk it......Almost any trade in that has been modded has a problem like I stated in my post above....Nobody that owns a Honda period lets go of it unless it has a problem.....PLUS dealerships dont know a damn thing about performance parts...especially the salesman...(most of the time)....anyways good luck with finding what you want and being satisfied with it

Dude, for $250 a month, you can get so much more! With all the deals, get a new 06 Civic Si... What about selling your car and taking the cash to use as down payment on a srt4, wrx, spec-v nissan, or something not slow? Just wondering - also a rsx would be good, yes?

thats why we need to get some pics of it and see if it looks alright. of course there could be an internal problem, but ANY used car could have that. If you know what youre doing and are confident that its a good car, go for it. If u dont have the knowledge to check it out, have a mechanic look at for 50 bucks and THEN take it home.

Im all for you getting a honda, esp that body style
Just be really careful, really check it out. esp if its swapped. You never know what they did to do the swap, if anythingis ghetto rigged or whatnot.
Most importantly... TAKE PICTURES!!! even if you dont like something about the car.
Unless it has a huge body kit w/ fangs and an aluminum wing. In that case, dont break your camera.

Get an OMNI and build it up! Youa re looking for a daily driver? Not really a hardcore Dodge person are you? Since you are looking at Hondahs. Do whatever you feel like doing, just look at all the possible options.
How much do you owe on your car? Cause if you still owe on it I can see why you are wanting to get another car. If you don;t owe anything, then use that money to turbo it and make it fast.
Plus you live in PA, seems like everything good thats forsale is outa that state IMO.

Man I just read this post and it was like a roller coaster.
Started out as
"OH NOES! he's getting rid of his neon!

"
to
"oh wait, that's a sweet ass civic, I'd do it too.

"
to
"he's right, our neons
are retardedly slow...maybe I should sell my retardedly slow car....

"
to
"what does that guy know, ofcourse it's been swapped right.

"
to
"oh snap he was right. the car might be a lemon

"
to
"OMGZ the deals not going down!

"
to
"I need a beer."
Good thread.

and good luck finding an answer to your car troubles.
