Feedback System Opinions Needed!
Most of you are unaware but recenly we have tried to find a feedback system for phpBB to aid in the process of leaving feedback for members that do buy and sell items on here.
In searching for one I did find one that works great there is only one problem which I will mention later.
With the feedback system, a seller posts up an item they have for sale, people discuss and when the item sells the seller clicks a finalize button, selects the user that purchased the item or types in a user if they were not registered on here. A Feedback Bot then locks the thread to prevent any later reseructions asking if the item was sold, posts in the thread stating who the item was sold to, and PMs both parties notifying them that the sale has finalized and provides a link to leave feedback for each other. Beside each pesons name and viewable in their profile is a link to show how much positive feedback each member has which can be clicked and viewed just like with eBay displaying how many positives, negatives, and neutrals have been left in the past 1, 6, and 12 months along with all feedback comments left by members that have purchased or sold to them. In addition to leaving feedback for someone you are also able to leave a reponse to someone that leaves feedback for you. So if someone were to leave you a negative feedback you would be able to respond to that negative with a short explanation of your side of the story.... just like eBay.
Sound good?
Here's the down side to the system though that I've been trying to get around but so far haven't found an easy way. If you have 5 items to sell, each item would need to be listed under it's own thread. If you had 20 items you wanted to get rid of, that means you'd need to make 20 threads for each item instead of just one thread listing the 20 items you want to sell. Follow me?
So here's my question... how many would be okay with this? I like the idea of being able to leave more of a eBay style feedback but not sure how many of you, the members, accept such a feedback system having to make individual threads for each item to be sold?
Need some input... thanks!

Yeah, I've been searching high and low for something just like that and this is as close as I've found. It's nearly identical to that but the coder that made this one went a little overboard and made it too complicated.

i like the idea of being able to leave feedback that would be more visible to all forum members. It seems to me that the current section for feedback is effective... but some people might overlook that which has been posted by others.
The issue of having to open different threads, i believe, would cause quite a dilema. You may forget what one person may be selling, you would have to look at the many different threads to find what you are looking for, and it may become an all around nuisance.
I havent been here on 2gn long enough to get a feel for any kind of real issues with the way the for sale, wtb, and feedback sections are run. But seems to me that when you have a good thing, you dont replace it with something else.... unless its exactly what you want.
just my opinion though, to each their own...

The only real problem we have right now is if Person A posts a negative about say Person B, obviously Person B will typically respond back to Person A to defend their side of the story. The problem however is that the thread typically continues on and on as one big argument instead of just letting it be where something such as a feedback system will generally only allow you to post up one little comment to which the other person can respond and that is the end of it. No big threads with a back and forth arguement about who is right or wrong, ect.
It doesnt' happen very often but every now and then it does come up and cause quite a stir since people do take their feedback seriously...

I dont think the system we have now is all that bad. Sure its primitive, but its not like this is 2gncarpartsales.com; selling/buying only takes up like 10% of what happens on 2gn, so IMO its not a huge deal. but if u guys think its a good idea then im all for it.

That's not such a bad con, I mean it would be nice to just skim the forum and see exactly what's for sale, not just "Lots of parts!".
Either way it's a good idea.

hmmm - i like the idea also of the 1 part 1 sale posts - mainly because of what was just stated - now I can skim, not have to look at EVERY thread. It can be more specific on the title and stuff too.
FS: blah blah
Woudl be nice, because now I know that poster A has blah blah for sale. Not "tons of stuff!" If you have 20 items to sell, or a car to part out, maybe you can get a whole new forum topic for that? Like a "Parting Car FORUM" or something.

Yah, that's what I'm worried about. If I install it I'm afraid it'll be like the auction system and no one will use it. If people are serious about it and actually take the time to list all their future parts out in individual threads then I've got no problem putting it on here. I just don't want to install it and not have anyone use it.J-Villa wrote:i personally liked the system we tried out...i think it would work out good...plus i think the one item per thread is another good idea....just sucks if you are tryin to part out a whole car though haha....
Still looking for everyones opinion on this. I know there are more active members than this

About the auction, I'd personally use it a lot more if I remembered it existed when I was on the forums. It'd need it's own forum if it were to become successful, not just a little icon at the top. That's just me though. As long as you keep the For Sale's in their own forum I'm sure they'd survive.
