I deleted important text messages on my cell phone. Is there software out there that I can use to recover them? I have the charcoal razor phone.

Not that I know. When I was still around the cell phone store, I never heard of such a thing. Sorry.
Unless of course something brand new came out but I seriously doubt that.

I haven't heard of anything like for phones or how the deleting of data on flash memory is handled. If the file index is only removed and the data left in memory then you have a fair chance in getting it back but for every new piece of data the phone writes such as a call long, another txt message, ect... it could be written overtop what you want to recover. If the file index is removed when you deleted the txt and then the data is written over then it's gone for good.
I dunno how the razors are but if you have a sync cable that you can plug it to your computer and maybe mount your phone as a removeable drive, look for for a data recovery software that is mainly used for flash memory.

It's a stab in the dark though on how well it works or if it's even possible with your phone

I read something in the paper the other day about how people delete all their stuff and sell the phones on ebay. There are apparetnly programs out there that can pull all the info that was ever put into the phone out. text messgaes, phone numbers, lots of stuff.

Yeah kind of like what jason said, if the phone by chance used an allocation table for files like NTFS or FAT32 for pc's, then *deleting* the file leaves the raw data on the disk and just removes the spot for it on the table. Hard to explain it without explaining too much. I do however doubt that this is really do-able. If it was do-able you wouldn't have to ask.

I guess the ultimate question would be then, if his computer has see the phone as a removeable drive where he can browse files then it shoud be at least FAT16 and there might be a pretty good chance the data could still be there as long as nothing else was written ontop of it.

there is software that you can put on your computer and a mini-usb cable that you can run for our (Razr) phones. Buy it direct from motorola. A bit pricey, but it is the best.

This might help:
MotoModders at themotoguide.com
Especially this part on
seem editing seems useful. I just hope that getting the "seem" will get your entire memory, so that you're able to browse it and see if you find the missing texts. But you don't need to modify anything.
I just hope that the text is stored as-is (rather than compressed or encrypted) so that you can see it instantly if it's still there.
You can Google "razr hacking" to find other useful guides.
