More bad luck for a Neon owner...

Post by FTWNeon » Wed Oct 18, 2006 11:46 pm

Well I was getting ready to go to school tonight and I noticed as I was getting in my car, something wasn't right with the roof. So I'm taking a closer look and I'm noticing a bunch of dents on my roof and hood. So now I'm pissed off and thinking about the storms we had recently and if we had any hail with them and kicking myself for not having her in my storage unit. Then alittle bit later in the night, dew had formed on my roof and what do I see? A footprint. So I take a closer look and notice how the dents are spaced. Someone walked on my fucking ACR. Now my hood has dents on it, the fender gap is all screwed up, my roof has several large dents on it. I don't know when or where this happened. I'd think at night but recently it's always been sitting in the driveway instead of the street.

Also, while I was putting my books in the car I noticed my backseat was wet, along with my floor. I look in the trunk and of course it's filled with water from the recent storms. Ever since I put the export tails in I had a problem with thme leaking so I messed with them some and they hadn't leaked in a while so I thought I fixed it. I was wrong. A few weeks back i ordered new seals and of course, I get them in the mail today.

I'm gonna try and talk to insurance and see what/if they'll cover the damage. I needed a new hood anyway but I'm just not sure about those dents on the roof.

Arg, I don't want to think about it anymore tonight, fucking depressing, I'm going to bed.

That sucks, have you talked to your insurance about it? Or is that out of the question?

Sucks man... at leat you've got a decent spare trunk lid if they did any damage to yours ;-) Good luck man, hopefully insurance won't give you a hard time.

 That's so horrible! Why would anyone do such a thing? I can't for the life of me figure it out. It just makes me even more glad that I park in a garage.

I really hope insurance covers it for you and they don't give you too much trouble.

Good luck with the insurance, man.

You should report that to the police if you haven't already...that walking on the car thing would probably be considered vandalism. I hope they found the perp who did that to ya.

Well I talked to insurance today, they should cover it over comprehensive and my deductable is $500 :? Need to get an estimate to see how much it will be.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to need a new hood but we'll see once I get an estimate. Of course the one thing that wasn't damaged is the thing I have a spare of, the trunk. I can't see any damage from this event, although it was already screwed up from when I when off the highway. Wanna sell me your extra CF hood Diablo? Heh

What I'm kinda mad about is I recently got a storage unit to keep the neon in to keep this kind of stuff from happening, but recently the civic devolped a coolant leak and I had that in the storage unit until I could fix it. I don't know when or where this happened but I usually keep her in the driveway and some one would have to come all the way up my drive way to mess with her.

I'll probably get the estimate tommorrow and I'll let ya know how that goes.

Oh and as for the taillights, I set up fans and dried out the trunk and backseat, now I just need to install the new seals I got from BRR. heh anyone think I'll ever get the exports wired up or will I save them as a project for Carlise

^ very true

dave, make sure they do the estimate for as high as they can, maybe that will absorb some of your deductable. a local guy had a stock (yellow) hood for sale for $80 a while ago. i can try to get a hold of him and see if he still has it. let me know.

I know I shop in town that does really good work but they seem to be expensive.

Yeah, it sucks that it happened, the people that did suck and I hope they get bitten by a rabid beaver, but hey, whats done is done.

The only alarm I have is what comes stock, but if I had an alarm, but the time it would have gone off, the damage would have been done, and by the time I could have gotten out there, they would have been long gone.

Heh, I've already got a black trunk, why not add a yellow hood, and then I can try and find a blue SRT rear

Well, went to a body shop, need a new hood and they're gonna slap on a new roof as well. Need to talk with insurance, and get all the paper work. Need to figure out how the payment works, if they pay the shop or if they pay me minus my deductable or what. If they pay me I'll do the hood myself and get a C/F one and then have the body shop do the roof.

^ depends on companies... but you could talk to the shop and see what they can do. 90% of the time OEM is more expensive... so they might opt for the cheaper route.
