I've had like 3 different Cobra models... They all worked alright, but I found that the best way to avoid getting a speeding ticket is to do the speed limit.

i was doing 5 over and the guy behind was driving with only one headlight...like he has nothing else better do to then cite the person driving with a burned out bulb then me doing 5 over.

haha oh, well yes it doesn't do too bad, it has a city mode just for city driving (obviously) that trys to block most electrical signals from things that aren't radars.. works.
sometimes i love my radar, other times i'm saying "UH, HELLO, BEEP, YOU F***" (look i didn't curse!

Escort is the best brand to buy right now. They have the one of the best ranges.
I have a Solo 2 cordless. It's been flawless for the last 2 years. My friend has the corded version and it is even better in terms of range.
They do cost a pretty penny though. Over $300.
I've been known to pick up cops on a flat road at 5 miles or at least it took like 2-3 minutes before he passed me.

Valentine1 hands down... once you have the directional arrows you'll never have another detector. I'm on my 2nd one right now after my 1st was stolen lol. Absolutely love my V1!

All I can say is when I had my Cobra I could see them with my own two eyes before the detector picked up on it. I'd have to be right up on him before the stupid thing would go off.

I know a guy who used his brights when one of his bulbs was burned out.
I bet that guy's light has been that way for months, and the guy wouldn't change it if he weren't cited.

I've used my b/f's V1 and been in his car enough... I like it. I've never had one. That's probably why I've had so many tickets lol.
I wanted to go ALL OUT and get the K40 awhile back but couldn't justify spending over a grand on it.

There's the one system that is integrated. Not just suction cups. It's got LED's in the dash and the things are mounted in your bumpers... its pimp.
" Thanks to K40, it's possible for you to design your radar and laser protection system with the same care and detail that you invest in your high performance automobile. In fact, your professional K40 dealer can design a system specific to your automobile and appropriate for your method and pace of driving.
Select a system with a single front mounted radar receiver, or upgrade to have dual detectors positioned in both the front and rear of the vehicle, to pinpoint the source of police signals from any direction. You can even incorporate our advanced Laser Defuser system for the ultimate in laser protection. So no matter where you drive, you can feel confident, knowing you won't have to take your eyes from the road, your hands from the wheel or your wallet from your pocket.
If you've owned a regular radar detector, you know the hassles of setting it up and hiding it from thieves when not in use. You hate the dangling cords, suction cups and Velcro tabs that destroy the elegant contours of your instrument panel.
K40's exclusive "Divide-and-conquer" concept solves all that. Inside the cockpit, separate alert lights and speakers or custom Warning Pod mounts invisibly into your vehicle's instrument cluster. A unique two piece control switch, installed discreetly under the kick panel or in the dash, adjusts the on/off, city/highway, and volume functions. "

I'm not trying to sound like a butt(trying to cut down on the cussing) but just for future reference...it's a radar detector
If you want a radar you can get those at any local sports stores
Now if you ask someone at bestbuy they will understand.

tha passport 8500, k40, and valentine 1 imo are the top 3 in that class. if you are baller and want a badass radar dectector escort makes custom installed radar/laser detectors/laser shifters. those run in the thousands though. the first 3 i listed are in the 300+ range. i use the k40. it has pretty nice time of detecting and has saved me a ton of times. plus they had a warenty for a year that they pay for your speeding ticket if you get one reguardless of the price. i kinda wanna upgrade now to the custom installed ones with sensors in the bumper and that can shift radar signals to give it a mixed one back. just expensive is the only problem.

you know, i used to be all about radar dectors.... until I had my stereo to effing loud and got a ticket.
Ever since that day, I just simply drive the speed limit. I don't even use my radar dector anymore... it chills in my glove box actually.

The biggest thing you need to realize with them is that they are only a small part of the overall avoidance of tickets.
First you need to practice common sense. For example, if you're driving on a highway and see brake lights coming on up ahead all in the same area then you can pretty much bet there's a LEO around.
You never want to be in the front of a pack even with a radar detector. There's a good chance you'll find yourself being hit with "instant-on" radar.
And I don't care how good a radar detector works, if you're lucky enough to pick up a laser signal on it then most likely you're the one that it was used on. At that point just pull over, you lost the game.
I had a radar detector for the longest time (Bel Vector 940). It has good to great range but you really need to pay attention to more than some sounds/lights. I don't use it anymore and instead just flow with traffic. It's much easier and safer (in regards to not getting caught).

I was doing 120 on the highway, started to pass a truck with a trailer, as I got to his front bumper I noticed the cop sitting by the bridge on the right side. I hit the brakes so hard everything flew into the passenger side footwell. AS I hit them, the laser went off on the V1. Guy never pulled out. I always heard if you hit your brakes it can't get a reading. I don't think that's true under normal circumstances, HOWEVER. I don't think the guy even saw me until I started to pass the truck, and in that split second, I managed to brake *RIGHT* before he locked on. That's my only theory
