That adaptor would work just fine but it comes down to the features of your phone. First it has to have bluetooth (duh haha) and you must have the ability that you can use it as a modem. Some phones don't allow Dial-up Networking but in most cases they usually do. What happens is when you buy that adaptor you will pair it with your phone using a passcode for security reasons. Once the two are connected windows will see that it is a phone and install the modem driver for it. Once that it done you will need to make a connection or use something like NetZero as a dial-up service.
Start > Connect to > Show All Connections > Create New Connection
Then just follow the steps to setup the phone number you wish to dial, username, password, things of that nature and select your phone as the modem. When you connect to the internet it will dial the number on your phone and use it as a modem to access the internet. Problem with this setup is that you WILL use airtime unless you're on Free Nights and Weekends in which case the call is free.
The next thing is if you're phone allows you to connect via bluetooh and surf using it's WAP or built in data connection if you are subscribed to a data plan through your cell provider (highly suggest unlimited data since paying by KB or MB gets expensive if you're on a lot.) Right now I have a Treo 650 and with the aid of a program called PdaNet I am able to connect to my data connection through my phone to get on the internet with my laptop anywhere I have service. I don't use any airtime with it as I'm not dialing a number since it's the same as if I'm surfing the internet on my phone, just on a bigger screen. Downside to this is those data plans aren't exactly cheap for unlimited data useage. I'm paying $40 through verizon but some companies like T-Mobile or Cingular could be only $20.00.
Second method is a little faster than the first method but could cost ya more or less depending on how much you're on the service. If you're only going to use it to jump on every few days to check your e-mail like at school or something and aren't using all of your minutes then the first method would work just fine. If you're going to be on a lot at school in class or wherever then I'd go with #2 since paying by the minute or running out of minutes could cost ya more than just getting the data plan. But, like I said above, all depends on the features of your phone what you can do...
