i hate the government rant....
i hate the government rant....
i would like to start by saying most of this is based on race....i am in no way a racist i am simply very political.....
Ok so I am sick and tired of America's stupid double standard. Turn on any black comedian and count how many times they use racial slurs against white people ie. cracker, honkey, etc. So then why is it such a big deal when ONE white comedian uses racial slurs? It is simply unacceptable to allow one race to use slurs and not allow the same tolerance to other races. I am also fed up with American's being pussies. People get so wound up about the stupidest things and take everything so seriously. Like all the anti-war people.....they get so pissed off about the stupidest things....i dont agree with the war, but i have family overseas and i support our troops 100% and hope to join the marines or air force after i graduate.
Finally i am sick of American politicians being a bunch of hypocritical bastards. Our fore fathers died to protect out rights granted in the Constitution and generations of politicians try to take them away. Jesse Jackson tried to pass a bill making it illegal to say "nigger" whether you are black or white or any other race. That is retarded.....the Constitution doesnt say "Free speech unless you hurt someone's feelings" They day something like that happens is the day I pick up and move to Canada.....
Finally saying "African American" when refering to black people is politcally incorrect. A. My family is from Ireland but am I Irish-American? no B. White people live in Africa as well, mainly in South Africa, so when they come to America they are still African American....therefor when refurring to black people, it is politcally correct to say "black american"
As i stated at the beginning, I AM NOT RACIST.....I am however, very political and these our my views on some issues in our sham of a government.

as to the comedians.... its all in context. a good comedian knows how to judge his crowd and know how far to take it. you have to admit that some of the funiest jokes are racial jokes... no matter what race.
the term african american is refering to people of african decent... to their racial background. i'm mexican-american because i was born in america, but come from a mexican background... hell, my parents don't even speak english.

Yeap, gonna have to agree with him. My feelings, unless you in some way involved in politics, (wiether it being an activist, a voter, or a protestor... generally just trying to make a change) I personally don't feel you have any room to bitch.LowNSlow wrote:Get into politics and do something about it
Also agreed. I don't give a rats ass. I'm not a registered voter, (not until the new presidental election) so therefore I have no reason to say anything.LowNSlow wrote:wrd - i really don't care ..
Maybe it's that Im too busy to care.. that or I'm just too lazy to care.

i know that....thats exactly my point....not all people of african decent are black...therefor it is incorrect to use the term "african american" when refering to black people thats why i say black american

i turned 18 after the last election so next one i do plan on doing something about it....but since i live in chicago i get to hear from Jesse Jackson and Mary Mitchell who are the two most racist ignorant pieces of trash on the earth...so thats why i get pissed off

the only reason i got so upset was because Jesse Jackson tryed to pass a law making it a illegal to say "nigger" no matter what race the person is who said it. this pisses me off because, while i think it is a terrible word and i dont use it unless im talking to one of my personal black friends who i joke around with, the constitution doesnt say freedom of speech unless you hurt someone's feelings. i just feel that it is completely unconstitutional to make saying a word illegal. and it pisses me off more that while politicians were considering the bill, they never brought up adding other racial slangs to it...THAT double standard is what makes me mad and it should make people of all races mad as well. if it is going to be illegal to use racial slangs against one race, then it MUST be illegal to use ANY racial slangs against ANY race. it doesnt matter if your white, black, latino, or asian....people come to america to be EQUAL and this double standard had to go. call me racist if you want, but stating facts does not make me a racist

Although I see your points, and I would never say that we should make certain words illegal because that is a mockery of our great constitution. I think it is a double standard that Mr. Jackson tried to push, and I think it is hipocritical to say that one word is illegal while others are not, and focus in on one race and hold it over another as being more privilaged...
But then if you think about it, look what the blacks in American history went through? Hell, they were just freed of slavery only 140 years ago. The black man was really never allowed to vote until shortly after 1870 (15th amendment) and most schools and other public places banned blacks from even being there until the 1960's - less than 50 years!
Some of these "activists" still are living in the memory of what they had to actually live through. Being 18, you have a completely different view of the world today - you can have your interracial friendships and not think twice about it, not feel stares when walking down the street together or sitting in a restaraunt together, you can talk to each other in certain ways and not be offended.
Some people have not let it go, and rightfully so. There are still some red-neck crackers alive today who still believe the South never lost, and that States still have the right to suceed from the union... hell, Mississippi still had not completely outlawed slavery until 1995 (which was actually apart of the terms of reconstruction, but it was over-looked). Racism is still a problem in our country and some people have a hard time looking past it. Education is the key, not laws.
Which brings up another point... should affirmative action still be in place, or have we achieved everything it had been set out to accomplish. You do know it is not permanent, yes? Either way, one day it will either be made permament (even though the constitution pretty much covers all these things, along with certain laws) or completely abolished. I guess we will only know once people stop being offended, and others stop offending.

For one I highly doubt a bill like that would be passed due to the First Amendment. If it did it wouldn't last too long, too many people would protest it.
While I don't like double standards I don't think it's a Government thing, it's more of a society thing. It's not the Government that says you can or can't call a person of dark color black or African American, it comes down to what the American people wants to hear or see. The better term might be that you hate what the American Society wants or accepts.

i couldnt agree with you more....thats why i dont like jesse jackson....he thinks its ok to violate the constitution when it is clearly not ok.....
im not gonna lie, i live in a predominately white community and there wasnt a single black kid in my class 1-8 grade. i didnt grow up racist, but i never knew any black people so i liked being in my comfort zone of my own race. but my high school is about 50-50 and i love the diversity. i am so glad that i got to experience new things and now i have friends from all different races and i love it. the thing with race is all about comfort. like me and my black friends call each other racial slurs all the time and have a laugh and keep on with our day. but i would never walk up to a black guy on the street and use a racial slur. untill we can all learn that people are people no matter the color this will never get solved

All this reminds me of a scene in Clerks 2

From my point of view it's equally everyones problem and until everyone lets it go it'll stay here forever and ever and IMO, it's getting quite annoying. I'm not one to look at someones skin, yes there are stereotypes for ever race that are for the most part true but as long as the person is a good respectful person I have respect form them as well. As my Dad says, if he had a choice of two different neighbors, one being white and a total redneck that will tear up his property or a black family that will keep their property up, good people, ect... he'd take the black family in a heartbeat. It's not the color of the skin, it's the quality of the person.
I agree to an extent but there are things I see and they just don't add up. A lot want racism to go disappear, no matter what color they are. Me personally it'd be great to see it just disappear overnight but thats not going to happen. In Cincinnati I'm sure many of you heard about the riots we had back in 2000 or 2001 over a white police officer shooting and killing a black suspect while in foot pursuit. After that the city went down hill fast. Downtown's activity dropped, business that had been there for decades left and there was no reason other than a Bengals or Reds game to stay or go down there after work. The city did a lot to try to make up how people were perceiving them so they built an Underground Railroad museum. It's a very nice building that overlooks the Ohio River and sits right between the two stadiums. Well, the museum is a huge flop, they're losing money and are having a hard time keeping it going since they aren't getting visitors anymore. There isn't a night that there isn't at least one shooting in the predominantly black area of town now and many people are down right afraid to go downtown at night. The general feeling there is that we as the white community owe them something for everything they have had to go through or their ancestors had gone though but there's a time when you just have to let it go and most past it. Now I'm not saying all black people think that way, I know a black lady and she's probably the nicest, sweetest person I know, in fact she almost feels like a grandmother to me for some reason and it's always a pleasure to talk to her. I just hate hearing the bitching some people do about why they can't make something of themselves. Not just black people, even white people do it and sit and complain about everything but never do anything about it. They complain about how crappy their life is yet what do they do all day, sit on their ass all day and not even try to do something with their life. If black people feel that I owe them something for how my ancestors treated them, I'm sorry but I don't think I do. I haven't done anything to you and whatever my ancestors did there's not a damn thing I can do to change that. If everyone can't just put it behind them no matter what race you are it will never go away. Here in SC there are more black people which I have absolutely no problem with and it's fantastic that I don't have to hear on the news about someone either white or black being offended by something that someone had in their yard. Hell in Cincinnati, earlier this year there were protesters downtown protesting that a statue that was being restored was covered in a white tarp to keep it out of the elements. They interpreted it as the city dressing it up as a Klan member. They said on the radio, whats next... you can't have asphalt roads b/c their blackRandal Graves: Since when did "porch monkey" suddenly become a racial slur?
Dante Hicks: When ignorant racists started saying it a hundred years ago.
Randal Graves: Oh bullsh**. My grandmother used to call me a 'Porch monkey' all the time when I was a kid because I'd sit on the porch and stare at my neighbors.
Dante Hicks: Despite the fact that your grandmother might've used it as a term of endearment for you, it's still a racial slur. It'd be like your grandmother calling you a little kike.
Randal Graves: No it is not. Plus my grandmother had nothing but the upmost respect for the Jewish community. When I was a kid, she'd always tell me to treat the Jewish kids well or they'd put the sheeny curse on me.
Dante Hicks: WHAT THE F***, MAN?
Randal Graves: What?
Dante Hicks: Sheeny is a racial slur, too!
Randal Graves: No it is not.
Dante Hicks: Yes, it is!
Randal Graves: Well, she never called any Jew, sheeny, she just used to say sheeny curse a lot. It was cute.
Dante Hicks: It wasn't cute, it was racist!
Randal Graves: I disagree, man, she was just an oldtimer. That's the way people talked back then. Didn't mean they were racist. - But, my grandmother did refer to a broken bottle once as a "n***** knife" once. - You know, come to think of it, my grandmother was kind of a racist.
Dante Hicks: You *think*?
Randal Graves: [indignant] Well, I still don't think "porch monkey" should be considered a racial term. I mean, I've always used it to describe lazy people, not lazy black people! I think if we really tried, we could reclaim "porch monkey" and save it.
Dante Hicks: It can't be saved, Randal! The sole purpose for its creation - the only reason it exists in the first place - is to disparage an entire race. And even if it could be saved, *you* can't save it, because you're not black!
Randal Graves: [smug] Well, listen to you, telling me I can't do something because of the color of my skin. You're the racist!
[Dante storms off in a huff]
Randal Graves: I'm taking it back, you watch!
