Most manufacturers are going to "universal" design elements. I remember watching an interview with some saturn/gm design guy who mentioned they are headed the same way. In his words it makes that one brand of cars more recognizable as belonging to a certain manufacturer.

Lincoln - Vertical Chrome Foreground/Horizontal Background
Mercury - Same as Lincoln
Pontiac - 2 Bubble Grille
Chevy - One big horizontal chrome peice in the middle of the grille
Cadillac - Horizontal Chrome Foreground/Vertical Chrome Background Grille

Exactly, just expect it more now I guess. From the sounds of it every car except for the top of the line will start to share design cues.

The Aspen is DCX's answer to the escalade. Also, how is the Tahoe a knock off? It's the same parent company. I may be wrong but I'd venture a guess they are built on the same platform.

Once again, if they do share platforms (which I honestly don't know, I'm jsut going off of looks) and they are both GM how is one a ripoff of the other. Too me that is just universal styling.

And wouldn't the Escalade just be an answer to the Navigator, so shouldn't the Navigator be the culprit?

Also...

New Tahoe >>> Any other Tahoe ever

EDIT - They do share a platform, the orignal escalade began on the Yukon Denali platform and was basically the same damn vehicle, now the Escalade is on the new GMT 900 platform which also includes the Yukon/Tahoe.

Naw, its open still.. for now. Prolly never will close, one of the more productive plants that makes the number 1 truck in the US. Plus, KC has all sorts of bonuses as far as tech schools and stuff... we can train in town, not on fords dollar, blah blah... good location. This one will prollay just down size

i agree the new tahoe is the best one and am currently trying to get my mom to trade in her 03 tahoe for a new one.....but i meant look wise....chevy really didnt have any vehicles appealing to that part of the market and especially when DC came out with the new 300c, Charger, and Magnum their success in the black community sky rocketed.....so now chevy wants a piece of the action....i know chevy and cadi are both GM but i still stand by my point

I'm just getting more disappointed the direction DCX is heading. Sure, we can carve out crosshair grilles on boxes and call them SUVs... Where's the inspiring design they used to have when Bob Eaton or Tom Gale were still there? Remember the Prowler, Viper, and cab-forward designs?

They've pretty much stayed away from the economical car segment in the market and rely on brutish, rear-wheel driven, hemi-powered sedans and big trucks/suvs as their main platforms.

I just don't simply want to go to the "dark side(s)" when I look for a new compact car. American-made all the way j/k. :D
