and btw. smart isn't MADE by M-B or chrysler... smart cars are made by smart, DCx is just the parent company of smart. smart used to be an indepent auto manufacturer (that was started by M-B in cooperation with the Swatch company), until DCx bought the majority of smart's stock shares. so i don't see how this impacts chrylser hitting a "new low" or "going down in flames." especially since smart sells a lot of cars in europe where small cars like that are more sought after.

Back in 1993 M-B started to study the feasibility to make a small car. To start the ball rolling they teamed up with the company SMH to start studying the development of a small car. Over the course of the following 4 years the "smart" company was born and in 1998 with the Benz and Chrysler merger (*cough* takeover) smart became 100% owned and operated by DCx. In 1999 the began to sell cars but not world wide, only to select European countries. Also in 1999 they became the FIRST company to sell cars via the internet. Ever since then they have been making small economy sized cars (super-minis) and up until the past few years have started to market the cars here in the US.

So as you can see they've been around for some time now but just hit the scene here in the US within the past, I'd say 3 years. They're still mainly sold in Europe and Asian countries where smaller cars are sought after.

Meh, I fucking hate the .org and all the jerks that go there. I might as well never go back. All they do is fight, and its not even a fight, its like two tuff guys in highschool who just do a pushing match.
