basically it is my graduation present

please dont flame about how my parents are buying me a car

oh and my neon is going to my lil brother
Seriously it doesn't bother me that parents buy their kids cars for events like graduation and the such. When my son reaches 16 and has his driver's license he will have a pimp car regardless of what my wife says. :D

Also just my belief but he will NOT work while in high school or college.

Right now, the Lotus Elise (or Exige variant) is at the top of my list. Ill prob keep the neon for a few years, and once the loan is done and ive started reelin in the big bucks in my career, ill look towards a new car. Ill surely have some sort of project car in between, but not anytime soon!

will be getting a really good job soon. going to buy a mid 80 ramcharger 4x4. going to do a cummins diesel swap (its been done before and with lots of goodies), 5 speed swap, 3 speed transfer case with half ton dana 60 axles. its going to be my play/neon hauler. 8)

which cummins are you planning?

you might want to put dana 70's or 80's in there. i believe my dads 91 3/4 had atleast a dana 70 and in 91 they only put out 165hp and 400ft-lbs

I had a dream last night that I went out and bought a scoobie as a DD/beater car. It nearly became a wet dream.

dodge started putting the cummins in rams in the late 80s, 88 or 89. the first couple years they were not intercooled and were rated 165/400. then they intercooled it and kept the same power rating in about 91. then in 97? they switched to a 24 valve head and efi, this bumped the rating to the low 200hp area and, shit i have no idea how much torque. i would think the upper 400's. then in 2003 they introduced the cummins 600. 325hp/610ft-lbs.

the dana 70 or 80 could handle more abuse. dont get me wrong dana 60's are beasts, i would just think you would want a front/rear diff that was actually in a 3/4 or 1 ton diesel.

I worked way too much while I was in college and it got in the way of obtaining a Bachelor's.

Either a Toyota or Lexus SUV (4Runner, RX300), Nissan Xterra in army green, Lexus GS300/400, LS300/400, newer Acura TL, etc.

It will be an import. It will prolly be a Toyota/Lexus or Nissan product. Maybe an Acura. Either an SUV or midsize luxo cruiser. I never will buy a new American car ever again.

Ima keep my neon until it blows up...I'd really like to get a 1gn as a DD though. I'll prolly have some form of a neon until i retire lol. Then i'll opt for some form of hybrid or luxury car. Who knows what will be out there 20 years from now.

Our next vehicle purchase will be a PT Cruiser convertible for my wife. It will be a few years away. If all these vehicles we have hold up, it will be the 5th vehicle in our stable!

The neon is going to stay my daily driver and occasional autoX car. I plan to buy an '07 F250 this summer, or fall. Depending on when the '08s come out, because i DONT want an '08. 6-8" lift, diesel, 4wd, 4-door short bed. Itll be used to haul and tow as well as for long trips and work (as it is very hard to fit all my SO stuff, all my EMT stuff, turnouts, and if Im lucky, dive team stuff (SCUBA) in a neon, and still get to it all quickly)

Than you can take off the "TO" and the 'TA" and have the tailgate say "YO"

In no way is me purchasing a brand new car in the near future in any way a realistic thought.

I'd love to have a Solstice or Sky. I can get a great deal on one with the GM employee discount I get through my parents, but even then I doubt I could afford an $18k car for a number of years.

If I could afford a newer used car it would be a WRX wagon. mmm I love those things, but way out of my price range.

I'd be damn happy to just to find a way to come up with the $1500 or so I need to get my ACR running.

im not sure what the guy used. it was awhile ago that i read about a cummins being swapped in a ramcharger. can you intercool the cummins that werent intercooled?

honestly, ive been thinking about it...i might go with 3/4 ton axles but think it will hold all that torque?

i would be very surprised if it was difficult to intercool a non-intercooled cummins. i believe all you need is the intercooler (not cheap) and the piping. but i must refer you to www.dieseltruckresource.com they have a large forum there dedicated to cummins power in dodge vehicles.

if its possible i would get the axles out of the diesel 3/4 or 1 ton trucks. iirc, i know on the current models the rear axle on the diesel trucks are huge 11.5" AAM assemblies, while the non diesels get 10.5" assemblies. again check out that website and im sure you will find all the information about any generation dodge cummins engine you need to know.

Well, I COULD say a Scion xB... considering that's what I was going to buy before I got my neon.

I just couldn't find a used one in my price range. So yea, next car... Scion. :D
