i was on the dodge site and noticed se,sxt, sxt sport, r/t fwd all now have 5speeds, not the cvt. but it looks like the r/t awd still does have the cvt...
dunno if you can still get the base model in a cvt or not...but it's cool you can get them in manual...b/c i thought you couldn't get them in a manual

the caliber has yet to grow on me. My money says their sales die out. the market doesnt need another mini suv. the srt version of it is slightly interesting, but its still not a car in my book so i dont judge it as one.

there is talk that they are having problems with the srt version something with the chassis....and something about srt basically wanting it to be awd, or they don't wanna release it....and i guess it has so much torque the car is really swaye on the roads ect....also heard next year they will be releasing a NON srt verision, but one with a turbo lower hp. i think i read 240 or something like that...
i read that stuff over the srt forums

ive always thought it was silly when companies release five/six differenct trims of the same model. I just dont get it. Kinda like the cobalt and its 2.0 SS, 2.2, and 2.4. I dont see the need for three different motors. madness...

I dunno why SRT would even want to mess with it. They have to give it a load more hp just for it to be equal with the previous srt4. It is not worth their time to make it a sports car...er a sports compact bus

I heard somewhere that they are going to do a GLH version too I think my head is going to explode there is nothing GLH about the caliber its expnesive (for what it is) without some serious work it wont be the fastist thing you can buy (although in the day of the TD the other fast american cars kind of sucked). If they do a GLH it might be the first actuial new car I buy.

for once, i agree with DannyBoy.
I hate the calibers, and the SRT's arn't any better. (if they ever get around to releasing them)

I drove the AWD RT with CVT and did not think it was worth the 20+ grand they wanted for it - thing was slower than my ACR. Big time! They need to release an AWD 5 or 6 speed MTX, maybe with 200+ hp, and THEN it would be a real RT worthy of the badge.
NOW I did drive the Avenger SXT the other day, with ATX and that thing was faster than the Caliber RT

I liked the Avenger, a lot - plus the RT trim has the 3.5L in it

That thing looks GOOD too... I like them, but the one thing about the Avenger I was not fond of was it felt like a midsizde sedan.

I want to drive the RT

bring the neon back

As ugly as they are they are, some how they're selling like mad and on mega back-order. Hell, in Europe they've sold 3200++, when in last year DCX sold 331 cars total. The fuel economy sucks compared to the Neon, but I guess if you've been driving an SUV and you're buying one of these to replace it, the economy is pretty good
IMO I don't really like the Caliber much, just feels really cheap, even compared to the Neon (at least on the Neon when I pull on the door handle the entire door doesn't flex). With that said I'm waiting for the SRT version to come out so I can order some parts from it.
300 HP for SRT-4 version.

i kinda agree. my boss has a caliber, and it is not too bad, but i wont buy one. i would rather keep my 03 sxt, and when it is paid off, spend what i would have on another neon, maybe a 1st gen or a 2000 to 2002, where i can dump money into it, have some real ecu options, and a large aftermarket choice.

Do you guys know what engine they are using for the SRT version?

Looks wise I still don't like it, the SRT version is better but it's still not my cup of tea. I'd personally rather have the Compass version since I think it looks better as a Jeep. They are pretty comfortable inside though, I'll give it that but outside it lets me down

I wouldn't want to be seen in one of those. Thanks for posting the pic though.

i like the srt version....i like the looks....i like hearing 300 hp...but don't like the weight and gas mileage will probably suck....

for 300hp, I would rather drive a mitsu or suby

AWD, 6 speed MTX, and more aftermarket following, plus lighter, more tested and tried and true.

^^and that 300hp wont make that bus any faster than the current srt

I'm not a big fan of the standard caliber, but hte SRT version I like.
I agree with Diablo0, the Jeep Compass is so much better look, and you can get the 2.4/5spd option on it
I personally would be a non-SRT version of one, just because I like the really cool options on it. The iPOD/Bluetooth stuff, the cooler in the glove box, the stereo system. The thing is UBER quiet inside compared to out. I mean, its a really cool car.
However, the CVT, is a total waste.

whoever said it was gonna be faster?
i was just simply stating, i like the look of the srt model.....there are rumors it's gonna change to awd b/c of the problems they are having with the fwd.....and it's gonna have 300 hp to boot....

its a 2.4 world engine, turbo
same engine in the rt's except no AWD and the srt has turbo.
I liked my caliber, but it was slow and had too many defects. if you go to caliberforums.com, you will see all the problems w/ those things. it just wasnt worth it anymore to start it up every day wondering what could possibly go wrong. volvo ftw.

300hp + 3300lbs = eh..
Eh + AWD + 400lbs = a 3700lbs, 300CrankHP Bus
300hp at the crank with AWD parasitic load = EVEN SLower
