I have an Adaptec SCSI Card 29160i and an HP 36.4 10000 RPM HD....

I want to use this since it has been sitting in a drawer for about 8 months!

I just picked up a "new" computer.

P4 2ghz with 1 gig of ram and 64 meg video card I had lying around. Everything else is onboard. The case is a Compaq because you really need to know that to solve my problem. :bs: I am going to be running windows xp pro.

Okay here we go: Can I use this as my bootable disk? If so how do I install xp to it? Drivers?

If not, that sucks.

Thanks,

John

Once you get the scsi card and hd set up in your computer and go into the scsi card bios and set it up, you can boot from it. When installing XP right when it says "Press F6 to install drivers... blah blah blah" press F6 and put the 3.5" driver disk in that came with your scsi card. You should be set from there. After you get everything set up correctly it should boot the MB bios first and show you the post data THEN it will boot the scsi bios (thats when you press whatever key it says to setup you scsi card) then it will boot your OS. You do the same procedure to setup a SATA hd (minus the card if it's built in). You are going to love you uber fast HD!

I did not get a disk with it, do you know where I can get the driver... HPs or Adaptecs Website?

Thanks, I will give that a try!

adaptec's website should have the disk, if you're not sure just call em up or shoot em an e-mail.
