soo.. i thought i just lost my belts.. but no

soo.. i thought i just lost my belts.. but no

so yeah, on the way to work today there was a klunk, and then the lights dimmed, then the battery light popped on, and then i had no power steering.. no biggie just the belts, but as i was late for work i didnt have time to investigate right after it happened.

at break time i take the stupid shuttle back to the parking lot to see about putting the belts back on, borrowed all the tools i needed from the mechanic at work cause all of mine are on the garage floor =P..

after fighting with the p/s belt thinking it was the one on the bigger side of the crank pulley i realized i was wrong, then tried getting the alt belt back on and then i noticed what happened.. the adjusting bolt that runs thru the bracket to the alt.. snapped off.. it was gone, only the adjusting bolt was left. some how/way that bolt broke, then threw the alt belt somewhere along the road, and kicking the p/s belt off in the process.

so i figured great ill have to tow this home or something. and since our employee lot is so secure they dont allow anyone that doesnt have a pass inside the gates, so in order to get a tow id have to push it out thru the gates and onto the street, which isnt that bad but i wasnt in the mood to attempt it so i figured why not see how far i can get on the charge in the battery.. Smile lets just say i made it home (8miles) with plenty of juice left.

now the task at hand is to get that adjusting bolt out and replace it. and since the garage has a car immobile, its gonna depend on the weather man if i can get it done.

so that was my day.

if you get a jump start you might be able to get the car running enough to get it out of the gates. (did this with an older car... not sure how it will work with yours)

If you shut off everything you don't need electrically, you can get pretty far on a battery charge. I drove on and off for a day without an alt.

no on my 2g r/t.. and i was too lazy to fix it last night so i drove my moms 1g to work..

got off work early today and spent like 2hrs (riding the shuttle back and forth from the airport.. one draw back from having secured employee parking) with that god damn thing.. the KEY wouldnt turn.. after getting the spare key and no luck i just started beating on the lock with the handle of an icescraper and it finally turned.. then i asked my mom if she had any troubles before and guess what.. she has and never told me, apparently its happened before and shes flipped the key around and wiggled it and it worked.. so i chewed her out for not telling me. so im prolly gonna need a new ignition lock for her car now.
