But I have all my VINs where they are supposed to be, no fishy stuff here. That does sound a bit odd, but different cars are different. My volvo has the VIN EVERYWHERE. Under the hood on a metal plate on the fender, near the firewall on a metal plate, on the dash on a metal plate, and who knows how many other places. its all over the place. The only plave Ive found my VIN on the neon is the dash....or maybe i just never paid that much attention.

shooting someone when they have a gun pulled to make sure no one gets hurt is doing their job. arresting people robbing others is doing their job. pulling people over for speeding is doing their job. pulling people over for drunk driving is doing their job. pulling over dumbass ricers that do burnouts everywhere in the parking lot at a meet is doing their job. now sure it is perfectly fine and legal to pull someone over for no reason and have a chat, but when you pick a car out of the crowd for no reason because of how it looks!!?!?......i see that as harassment. like i said before i used to get pulled over all the time when i was driving normal in a crowd of cars DOING NOTHING, and have a cop just complain about stuff to me then send me on my way. then other times the cops just follow me around waiting for me to do something wrong when i am still DOING NOTHING. OHH!!! and of all things!!! this is a good one....now tell me how im sitting at a light and 3 kids in front of me take off racing. i take off slowly behind them like nothing happens and am still driving normal DOING NOTHING...cops that are behind a few cars pull me over, yell at me, and then ticket me for street racing and other random stuff. i had to sit there and argue with him how i was not street racing and that it was the people that were up ahead driving fast. long story short i got the ticket dropped. this was before it was jail offense and tons of other big fines. i would of been one pissed off person if i went to jail and my car was towed for that......here is another good one....im coming home from my friends house….me and my friend were driving 35 in a 40; one behind the other. we pull into my neighborhood, and this cop flys by me (in my neighborhood) then cuts in front of me with his lights on and stops. He then jumps out his car and runs over to my friends car and tells him to pull over. now both of our cars are also modded at the time. So the cop comes up to me first and starts yelling!! yes yelling at me about how he HATES all of us driving around with our exhausts being loud, speeding, racing, and causing trouble. now keep in mind that we were doing nothing wrong. he then goes over to my friends car and starts telling him how he is gonna ticket him for everything he can on the car. the cop even started to name off stuf that wasnt done to his car and was threatening to ticket him for it. he ran our license and came back and said he was just going to let us go with a warning.....i dunno what the warning was for? driving under the speed limit? so yeah harassment at its best for having a hooked up car. ok this was long…im done complaining now. i can see this thread getting locked soon. i respect a cop that does his job and doesn’t abuse his power.bad01neon wrote:this is dumb...when are people just gonna let cops do their effing job?!?!?! no matter what they do or who they arrest its some kind or harrassment...someone could be pointing a gun at them, but if the cops shoot first to make sure no one gets hurt, they get in trouble.....just let the cops do their job, they arent just picking on you cause your a ricer...o and guess what.....a cop can pull you over for no reason and have a little chat with you and thats perfectly legal

I just HATE IT when cops sit some place where crimes are being commited and doing something about it. If it is modified, and your state doesn't allow modification, that is illegal. period. I guess you hate when cops sit at the side of the road catching speeders. they are just doing there jobs (yes there are bad cops out there but that is what judges are for)refect wrote:i remember reading about one of the HIN shows i think over in cali. cops sat outside the convention center with tow trucks, and would pull over the cars (that were entered into the show) as they rolled out of the show. they were giving them tickets for illegaly modified stuff, and even towing some away. just shows how much of an ass the police department can be. i feel like they need to do something useful with their time and go make a drug bust or get the nasty lookin hookers off the street. or even try to stop some kind of gang violence/crime. i can understand if it is to help regulate the show and keep things from getting out of control, but for shit like this? come on!! to sit outside of a convention center and be like oh look here cletus this looks like a good little ricer to grab. lets tow his car ahuk ahuk ahuk!! that is just straight up harassment. hell when my neon was running i could barely take it out without a cop pulling me over to tell me about some bullstuff, and give me a warning for it. or to have them follow me for a while for no reason when i wasnt doing anything.
If you are doing something wrong, and the cops know where you are, there is nothing stopping them from waiting for you when you leave a show.
Instead of complaining about the police (cause they are doing there jobs), complain to the LAW MAKERS! because if it is not illegal anymore, no more cops bugging them.
I hate it when people complain about a ticket. the first thing i ask is if they did something wrong, and that usually shuts them up. deal with it.
you are missing my point. what im trying to say is that it's a car. not a drug deal. i'd rather see them put their time in stings for drug busts, car jackings, SPEED TRAPS (no i dont hate when cops set up speed traps), ect. rather than see them waste their time to tow cars from a car show. i know what is illegal on my car and what is not. so when i get ticketed for it im not surprised. getting ticketed for illegal parts is not what makes me upset either. it is mainly the fact that they pick on the cars that are modded. whether the mods be legal or not. i work with cops. they all tell me the majority of them look for reasons to pull over the "hooked up" cars. its not right.

that is what gets me. "wasting their time with cars" why don't they ignore other laws too? and about your profiling comment, if a car is visably modified, and some modifications are illegal in your state, then they are allowed to stop you. Up here in canada the police use the excuse of a safety check to pull you over ( its legal to do that.)refect wrote:you are missing my point. what im trying to say is that it's a car. not a drug deal. i'd rather see them put their time in stings for drug busts, car jackings, SPEED TRAPS (no i dont hate when cops set up speed traps), ect. rather than see them waste their time to tow cars from a car show. i know what is illegal on my car and what is not. so when i get ticketed for it im not surprised. getting ticketed for illegal parts is not what makes me upset either. it is mainly the fact that they pick on the cars that are modded. whether the mods be legal or not. i work with cops. they all tell me the majority of them look for reasons to pull over the "hooked up" cars. its not right.
Maybe the cops that are pulling these car show cars over are part of unit called "the traffic unit" because I'm pretty sure there are drug units that are doing their jobs (with the whole war on drugs in the states). So usually it is no ones fault but their own for being pulled over.
remember, the only people who are running into a crazed gunmans house are the police. have you thanked a cop lately?

About time there is actually something positive said about cops.
yeh ive thanked many cops. i thanked them when they caught the guy who stabbed my friend. i thanked them when they beat down a heroin addict in front of my house for breaking into houses in my neighborhood to get money for drugs, ive thanked them when they found the guy who tried to steal stuff out of my car. lots of other times too. like i said before i respect the cops that dont ABUSE their power....and you are still missing my point. all i am trying to say is there are a lot of cops (not all. there are good ones too) that like to pick out hooked up cars simply for the fact that it is modded. whether the mods be legal or not, and it is messed up that they do this. like i stated before. i know they can pull you over for no reason, and that is perfectly legal. if you happen to have something illegal and get ticketed; its your fault. live with it. thats what i do. i know what is illegal on my car. if i get ticketed big deal its my fault. i know i can be pulled over for having illegal stuff, and get ticketed too so i expect it to happen. there are no surprises when it does. however, you missed me saying the messed up stuff they did to me even before i had illegal mods. I was pulled over, yelled at, and threatened tickets for doing nothing wrong; which is why i feel the way i do. i was simply doing nothing at all. driving 35 in a 40. it was just the fact that i had a few mods done that made him want to pull me over. the mods were lowered car, wheels, exhaust, and intake. all perfectly legal in my state at the time. so after i got pulled over i was then yelled at and threatened to get all kinds of tickets. i dont know what the tickets were for?...driving 5 mph under the speed limit? the officer then ended up sending me and my friend off with a warning for doing nothing. when the cop pulled us over he was yelling at us about how he hates all these kids with modded cars and could hear my exhaust coming and this and that. so that just says to me that the cop has a i hate modded cars attitude so im going to pull the next one over that i see and try to ticket them. there was no need to start yelling and threatening tickets the minute he came up to my window. which is why i say a majority of cops like to pick on and find reasons to pull over modded cars much more than non-modded cars. similar instances have happened to me more than this one too. that is all.SX_2.0_Monkey wrote:that is what gets me. similar instances have happpened to me more than once like i said above. i did not say all cops are bad, and because of what has happened that they are. you are getting the wrong idea. i am friends with a lot of cops and work with a lot of cops. they all tell me the same thing. if you drive a modified car you are a target. period. they look for reasons to pull you over because of this. unfortunatly thats how it is in my area. therefore, they like to pick on the modded cars more often than a regular driver. that is all i am saying. i am now done with this thread.

unfortunatly, that's how it is everywhere. and I'm saying that there isn't anything we can do about it. and complaining to me isn't going to help.refect wrote:similar instances have happpened to me more than once like i said above. i did not say all cops are bad, and because of what has happened that they are. you are getting the wrong idea. i am friends with a lot of cops and work with a lot of cops. they all tell me the same thing. if you drive a modified car you are a target. period. they look for reasons to pull you over because of this. unfortunatly thats how it is in my area. therefore, they like to pick on the modded cars more often than a regular driver. that is all i am saying. i am now done with this thread.

it makes complete sense to "pick" on visably modded cars.
you got their attention and now they are looking at you, yes they are going to see if they can find anything.
the most extensive thing i have done to my exterior is tinted side markers and third brake light. but sufficient light shows through when they are lit. and to be safe im ordering a set of led bulbs for the front, and i have one of nitehawks third brake setups on its way.
