Does this sound like a scam?

posted an ad in the iwanta for my tires and had someone reply right away and this is what they said:


Hello there,
I will like to know if you still have the item.If you do please let us know,and what is the asking price?Expecting your reply.

yes i still have them. however i cannot hand them over until april 16th. I am waiting for my new tires to come in and they will be in on april 20th. asking $250 . if you are interested still, let me know.

The asking price was clearly stated in my ad, It sounds odd to me. I havent replied since then.

hmm... i say it seems a bit odd, as well. definitely fishy sounding

make sure he understands you cant have them shipped out till that certain date. and if he is paying with cashiers check or money order tell him you dont ship till you get the money. so if he sends one of those to you i would wait to get it and cash it before i sent anything to him.

The only thing I dont understand about the shipping thing, is that i thought the iwanta was a regional thing, and if it is, there is no need to ship. oh well. i havent contacted them since.

No, that is a scam.

That is the main scam they use on craigslist, out of the 1000's of things I've sold on craigslist, I get at least 2 of those for every ad I put up.

That is a scam, that's for sure. The telephone number's such a give away. 301 is my area code too but the last four digit's 1234? Please... :roll:

They send you fake MO then you get f'ed when you try and cash them. I had the cops called on me when I tryed to at the bank. I had to deal with a bunch of BS thankfully I didnt ship anything out

I had a few of these Emails in the past. The best was when I was selling my 'Busa The guy said his client was handicap and in a wheelchair and was hoping i would cooperate with his shipping needs. 220mph bike to a cripple overseas. HAHA
