Out in the rain part 2

So I wake up around 6 this morning.. our pool in the backyard is almost underwater.. about 5 feet. It turns out that the flooding became a lot worse over night because they opened up some flood gates upstream. I think "as long as the cars are safe." And go back to bed.

I wake up later and my dad gets a call from our friend saying "The lot you parked the cars in is starting to flood, you want me to tow em out?" Obviously we said yes. So about 2 hours later we take the boat up the street to the end of the neighborhood.. to find my neon.. and my moms LHS... the only cars sitting in the lot.. up to the headlights in water.

I'm about to scream and my dad starts yelling at my friend for not towing the cars. He takes my keys and STARTS MY CAR!! I'm like ARE YOU INSANE?!??! The whole interior is flooded up to the top of the seats until he drives it out of the water, I open up the door and water gushes out. I drive it to my brothers house while the air bag light is freaking out and won't shut the fuck up and my brakes hardly work. I cleaned her out pretty good and haven't noticed any serious problems yet.. thank god.

I couldn't believe it though, just seeing my car sitting there.. in 2 feet of water, it was so depressing. I'm staying at my bros house so I can still go to work and class without having to take a boat to and from home. But yeah this weekend the car is gonna undergo some serious inspection for damage.

When I first bought my neon the trunk was filled with water. The whole car was musty smelling it was terrible. Ended up replacing the trunk lining. Not nearly as bad as yours though, sorry bout your luck

they make dessicant tubs that you can pick up at home depot type places. open 4 or 5 of those up in the car and keep vacuuming...

tough break, hope things get better.

Anthony best of luck with sorting this whole ordeal out! Hopefully you and your car come out on top!

On the lighter side........
So if you would have waited to lower it you wouldn't have had so much water in the car? :runaway: J/K!

Damn dude that sucks!
But like KracK said, just shred the entire interior and start cleaning. It's going to be the best thing you can do for it.

HAHA up yours mike. LOL. But yeah, I've been shopvaccing the car everyday, still waiting to go home. The car is running fine. The waters still haven't receeded at my house yet. My dad might claim that my and my moms cars are totalled to insurance. But IDK if I want a new car- even if it is a SRT. I love my little bugger and have put way to much money into it to just sell all the parts back.

For anyone with insurance experience, is there anyway to make a claim for a damaged engine then get money for a new one.. aka a SRT swap. I don't want a whole new car.

Sorry about your luck. Have you had any odor issues yet?

This reminds me of Katrina when all those cars had to be marked as flood vehicles or w.e. The mildew was just to much.

how this would work is that you file a claim for the damage but tell them that you do the work to your car and you want a check cut straight to you then you would go about doing the swap.

being the owner of a neon that has been flooded (my wifes) ... here is what i reccomend ...

pull interior out, let seats air dry while you have the carpet out and flipped over so you can vaccuum the padding under it ... (you dont have to replace interior, just make sure everything is good and dry before putting it back together)

get some WD-40 or another water displacing spray .. and go through each connection in your car and pull them apart and spray some of that in it before plugging them back up ...

it is very possible in the next 6 months or longer you will start having odd codes being pulled from the car because of connections going bad .. and sensors messing up ...

would also reccomend checking your oil just to make sure it doesnt have a milky coloring to it ... if it does .. change it before driving for to long ...
