no, it has to do with the engine.

hemi refers to the shape of the combustion chamber. the combustion chamber is the shape of a hemisphere.

The Moden Day "Hemi" isnt as much of a "Hemi".. Hell our Neons are more "Hemi" than the "Hemi"

how is that! the neon 4 cyl has a hemispherical head but are still no match for a 426ci hemi! those motors with stock heads and dialed in with all the stock parts can push 720hp and 700flbs all day long!

it doesnt matter what type of engine.

a hemispherical chamber = hemi no matter how you look at it.

are you sure about that 700hp on stock stuff. i can understand 500 - 550hp stock with proper tuning because the old 427 ZL1's were known to put out significantly more power when properly tuned

They arent as Hemispherical as the old Hemi's.. If you open up the New 5.7 or 6.1 Hemi you'll notice that the Head off of a S4RE or D4RE or A855 is more Hemispherical.

the 426 hemi's where not a good street motor, they were hard to keep tuned! but when tuned right can and will always be the monster of all stock v8's and yes can push 650hp easy! but the only reason that the 440 six pack mopars would beat hemi cars on the street is because not alot of people can tune a hemi.

i agree with the fact about keeping them in tune. i have heard that you drive it all week, and then give it a tune up and race it on the weekend, and by the next weekend race you would tune it up again.

im still haveing a real hard time accepting the 650+hp. they were rated at 425 stock, and were known to put out 460ish stock. but 650hp is 200hp more than stock, in stock configuration. doesnt make sense to me.

i understand that. what insurance co would want to insure a car that came with that kind of power stock.

i looked over at allpar and there was a bone stock hemi that they dyno'd at 463 corrected hp. your saying that they can take that stock hemi and get another 200hp with only tuning. i still dont believe it.

now you are bugging me.

you start at 720, then back down to 650 and now you are down to 500-550hp.

i can totally believe an additional 50 - 100hp, with the carb tuned right, and a set of headers. that is all the ZL1 needed.

the 600Hp was true out of a stock HEMI back in the 1970s. but it was on race fuel, not pump gas. it was also the reason the engine was Banned from NASCAR. teams would take the stock HEMI's, retune them for race fuel and get 600+wHP out of them. but you also have to remember that this was 600 1970's HP, that was measured differently. it's prolly closer to 550 2007 HP. still nothing to sneeze at but you'll never see 600HP out of a stock HEMI engine on pump gas today.

now 1000wHP out of a 426 after mods on pump gas today? that's not uncommon.

ok. since i knwo what the OP is REALLY talkign about.....

the Half-A-Hemi you speak of when referring to the tranny, is the worthless shift mod that can be done to the 00-01 3 speed trannys.

all it did for me, was throw a CEL and cause my gas mileage to go to absolute SHIT. dont bother.
