No, never!
But if the point is to make the roads safer then riding my ass would be the opposite of safe. Pulling people over because they are friends with the parents is time that could've been used to stop a drunk driver. Its the (ab)use of authority thats in question not the need for patrolmen.

The fact that he wasn't pulled over BECAUSE he was friends with a cop, he was pulled over for another reason. The cheif just happened to stop, it's routine for officers to stop and assist others that are on stops.

Maybe they have "traffic cops" where you are, I don't know but all we have here are county sherrifs, deputies, civil patrol (which not exactly sure what they can do) and of course highway patrol.
I'm sorry if you think that harassing drivers takes presidence over anything else they could be doing.

Yup, because that is what I said, cookie for you. :thumbleft:

I just love the attitude of people that get a ticket and then say, "well why aren't they out solving murders or rape?" Completely different things. Go talk to a sherrif or a city cop and ask them if they have units that strictly handle traffic. I garuntee you that you have "traffic cops." Most cities are spilt into different groups to handle different crimes, traffic crimes being one of them.

Here are some links for you Overdrive. These are all Daytona Beach PD.

Operations Bureau -

Patrol Division Units:

Traffic Unit
Uniform Patrol
Animal Control Unit
Bicycle Unit
K-9 Unit
Marine Unit
Crime Suppression Teams
Ops Bureau - Traffic Unit -

Criminal Investigation Division -

Asset Forfeiture
Crimes Scene Unit
Criminal Intelligence
General Investigation
Narcotics Task Force

See, you have both. So the cop that writes you traffic citation really shouldn't be out solving murders, it's technically not his job.

same, im the "street racing punk" to most of the edgewater cops...but not because I street race... (which I have...I know it's stupid) but because I have a loud car that to them is a "street racer" type of car. ive had the cops around here go off on me because of how I dress they begin to think that im going to act like an ass when Im not planning on it. I try to show them the most repect I can. but when I get pulled over for my tag light being out...and I get out in front of him (i know stupid Idea...probably coulda been shot) and see that it's still on...he has no choice but to give me a ticket for a bald tire? wtf? :tardbang:

i wrecked my white car back in 04.

i was accused of racing simply for the fact that i had :quotes: racing brakes :quotes: and :quotes: racing stickers :quotes: on the car. the :quotes: racing brakes :quotes: were blue painted calipers and blue painted drums.... the :quotes: racing stickers :quotes: were HIN stickers cuz i had attended the show a few months prior. i tried to tell the officer that the brakes were only painted, and that the show was for show cars, but she told me the she "knew what kinda cars were at those shows and they were race cars" which pissed me off, since i was already in trouble, i got mouthy and said she "had no idea what she was talking about, most of the cars either never saw, or very rarely saw the streets, and if they did, they had too much money into the paint and body to do dumb smurf like racing"

i went to jail that night... unfortunately, nothgin i said seemed to influence her mindset on what she thought. granted, i wrecked while doing somethign stupid (went into a corner too fast) but what really made me angry was her mother smurfing ignorance....

In the state of Washington racing and reckless driving are almost one in the same, so technically she was right. You were just racing "yourself" in that corner = reckless.

Sucks that you went to jail though, the fact that you got attitude with her probably influenced that decision.

Just cause you are in cuffs doesn't mean you are going to jail. You can be sited a released. Sounds like you had a good night though, hope you didn't drop the soap!
