Feels like an eBay scam...

So about a month ago I bought a Spec clutch and a Turbo off a guy on eBay. Seemed fairly reputable, albeit low ratings. I won the auction, sent payment, then waited. And waited. He claims to have shipped the item on the 11th of July. So far, 36 days after he claims to have shipped the item, no item. Now the bad thing is, he's in Dartmouth Nova Scotia in Canada (close to Maine for those who didn't know) . I'm in Southern California. I figured it would take awhile. So I paid through paypal. I filed a dispute and have escalated it to a claim after trying to phone the guy and phone number comes up "unavailable". Best case scenario, paypal rules in my favor and refunds me my $645.77 I'm out. Worst case scenario, the guy has liquidated and closed all his accounts, paypal refuses to refund me anything even under their buyer protection policy, and I'm out the full $645.77. Middle ground would be paypal refunds me most of the money, but not all of it. I've heard of some people waiting for between 45 and 60 days to receive some packages from Canada due to customs. I figure if the guy did actually send something, I should have received it by now or will receive it in a week or so. I don't know, but this is all very very frustrating, as ~$650 is not exactly chump change for me...

I know what you mean. I read about horror stories. I think I'm about done with paypal, even if I do get my money back. They take too much out of transfers. And they force you to do so in order to sell on eBay. Their terms and conditions are total bullshit and their customer service is still non-existent. I heard so-called buyer protection doesn't mean jack-shit, cause even if you get screwed, you're one out of a million, and they don't care.

I had the same thing happen to me. Basically I won the dispute but they claimed they couldnt recover and funds from his account and I got zero back. They prob have my money but said they couldnt get it.

Paypal ended the dispute a week ago in my favor, but under Paypal Buyer protection only recovered $400. I'm still out $250, and the guy was a sheister. Damn.

All they gotta do is move the money out of their account after they recieve the money and forget your name. PayPal can't/won't give back what they can't get their hands on.
I hate PayPal and will never use it unless absolutley forced too. And even then, I use a friend of mine's account.

Not true. I sold someone parts before. They installed it and scratched it. Then tryed to tell me that I shipped them a damaged part. They filled a claim with paypal. So in the end I got a part back that he damaged. I then closed my bank account since he fucked me I thought I would fuck him. Paypal then sent my debt to collections. If I didnt pay within a certain amount of time it was going against my credit score.

Same thing happened to me.
I only ever use paypal as a last resort.
They're the biggest pain in the ass I've ever encountered.
