I even had exact part numbers and they wanted the last 8.

dodge is effin retarded....has been for some time....want to make some profits? how bout you make better vehicles, that might help....now i love my dodge and im a dodge boy at heart, but lets face it.....dodge has made some crappy stuff and most people who dont own a dodge, hate dodge........resale sucks, how bout making a car someone will want in 5 years?

dodge has made some dumb moves, like the caliber and avenger.....both suck in my opinion.....i think the caliber srt-4 was a failure too....they had a second chance to fix the flaws of the first srt and they didnt....why not make trucks that last as long as GM or Ford, cause i dont car what you say, my family has a ram 2500, f-250, and a gm 2500 and the ram has a rougher ride, less towing capablity, is far less reliable, and is just over all not up to par with the other two.....

i want so badly for my next vehicle after the SRT to be a dodge, but if they continue on the path they are on now, they definately will not be seeing me in the future

Back on-topic... Yes, a sale may make parts available outside of the dealerships but this might possibly open the door to more non-US made parts and that is not good. Plus, if Mopar is spun off, could the same thing happen to the new stand-alone company as what has happened to Visteon (former Ford division) or Delphi and Guide (former GM divisions)? This has hurt Connersville, Anderson and Kokomo here in Indiana.

they released an AWD caliber, and the "performance" model is still FWD....WTF???? the srt was designed to hang with the big boys like the evo and STI, and still, FWD....tisk tisk tisk....the interior in both cars is cheap when compared to others in the class, ie. the RSX....i dont care what anyone says, sit in some RSX momo seats and then the vipers and the vipers dont compare....

yeah, stop making the caliber and take dodge completely out of the smaller car market.

They had no choice but to make the first SRT-4 FWD. How much money would it of taken to engineer an AWD drivetrain for a car they were discontinuing anyways. They wouldn't of made any profit. I don't think it was a mistake. Fastest Car for around 20K wouldnt of happened if it was AWD. Better Interior? Sure they could of.. but again that would of increased cost too.

The First SRT-4 was more of an experiment. They originally didnt plan on building more than a couple thousand a year. After sales and hype took off they decided they could really make a profit and built around 25,000 of them

I'm waiting for the Demon SRT-4. Everything else in the Chrysler lineup doesn't appeal to me.

Oh and I personally like FWD. I like the way it feels going around corners and the such. It has a slight understeer, which i enjoy very much.

mox i agree with you completely 100%....but i believe since they had much more time to design the cailber srt and since an AWD one exists, it should have been AWD....


i also agree they need to cut the caliber and avenger and come out with an entry level car that doesnt suck....the neon was great, but if they want to compete they need to ditch the current lineup....who buys entry level cars? for the most part younger people who want performance and looks.....dodge needs a better performing, better looking small car lineup if they want to increase profits....hate to say it but if i were in the market for an affordable NEW small car i would be getting a 2dr civic

I have always bought "entry level" cars, even if I could have afforded to buy more expensive ones with my Chrysler employee discount. Why can't Chrysler have both, entry level with performance (think Duster or Demon 340, the original Barracuda, etc.)? That is how it was when I was a kid.

a Guide plant just shut down in my town as well ... (well about a year ago) ... but it hadn't been 'offically' owned by gm for a while .. they had 'sold' it (but still had control of it) mostly to break apart the union that was well 'grounded' in town ...

as for the last 8 of the vin ... pretty much all auto places i go to ask for that now (dealership tied ones) .... so they can 'verify that they are getting you the right part for your car / truck'

If it's going to save Chrysler some costs in order to return to profitability, they might just do it. I cringe at an idea of Mopar disappearing since it's been part of Chrysler for a long time.

Offtopic: What even makes me scratch my head is making Bob Nardelli the Chrysler CEO. This is the same guy who brought Home Depot down to the ground who still took millions of dollars in pay and bonuses. That's the reason why stockholders and the board had to get rid of him. I'm still worried about this whole ordeal especially from a CEO without any automotive experience and shady history in management.

Chrysler needs a Bob Lutz, not someone who doesn't know what they're doing.

I also can't wait for the Demon SRT, Chrysler better produce it.

Creating new cars on new platforms is VERY expensive, thats why it isn't happening. They are just using the tools they have and redesigning shit with subtle changes.

What they should do to make money is put that 300hp motor into the avenger.

And make a 2 door car.
