Hit and run ever happen to you?

Post by thirteentwo » Sat Oct 13, 2007 11:44 pm

Last Saturday a woman pulled out in front of me in traffic. There was no room and now my car is 7 kinds of not operable at the moment.

She gets out of her car, checks the damages, and then takes off as soon as traffic let up. My girlfriend said she looked like a crackhead. All I saw was a tall skinny ass woman in her pajama's.

We got her license plate number but that's about it.

The front bumper pretty much survived it (just a few scratches on the top) because the bumper went under the car, the only thing that really get screwed up is the engine and hood. The passenger side door won't open but a few inches.

Anything like this happen to anyone else? If so, what'd you do?

I told the cop all this stuff and it really didn't look like he was doing much with it. I'd think with the license plate number they could just go to her house or at least figure out who she is, no?

Got in touch with the insurance company but haven't heard from them since then. Haven't really tried. I recieved a letter from the local p.d. friday asking for a full report and maybe an interview if I'd like to press charges.

From what i've heard, receiving the license plate number pretty much does nothing unless you decide to take the law into your own hands.

AKA go to their house and light their shit on fire.

Other than that, good luck with the situation man, I hope your insurance pulls through for you.

the only way you'll see any money from them is if you take them to court and even thats not a sure thing
somebody backed into my neon once when i wasn't home the guy was nice enough to leave a name and number on the car and i got a brand new door
good luck

I figured she was going to leave. But the last times that I waited for the cops to show, they tried to pin it on me.

One time, the girl (after backing into my drivers side) said "It's all my fault" as soon as the cop got there and he said it was nobody's fault or some crap.

And once 2 years ago, an ass in a truck was a little too excited after a monster truck show and decided to play games with me. He broke off the passenger mirror by swerving too close. He tried to leave the scene, I stopped him, he tried to convince me we should just leave since it would take the cops too long to show up...but sure enough as soon as they got there, I got a ticket. (The cop seemed reasonable enough when I first talked to him, but after he talked to the guy I can only imagine what the bastard said. Me and my little brother's word against two 'grown folks'.)

The cop and the guy didn't show up for the court date so I didn't get charged.

I plan to call the police this week and turn in the little thing they sent me.
