Is it really wasting money, when there is enjoyment from it?

I smoke Du Maurier Regulars, on occasion Du Maurier Specials, Goo d Cigars are a must also. I have had people bring me cigarettes back from the states, I can't stand them to me they are like sucking air, but thats just me. I had a german girl that visits her parents a couple times of year here bring me some kind of german smokes, not sure of the brand due to them being entirely in german (the wording looked like Hitler screaming health warnings at you lol) but they were damn good.

i used to not really mind someone smoking in my car as long as they kept the ashes and smoke outside, but one day i came out to clean my baby (shortly after i got the red rocket) and saw a nice little pile of ashes in my back dash soooooooooooo.... no more cancer sticks in my car

Oh yeah, it is wasted money -- think of it in these terms then, you get enjoyment out of a strip club, right, but what else do you get out of it besides being broke? Whenever you buy a pack of cigarettes, you are basically doing two things:racer12306 wrote:Is it really wasting money, when there is enjoyment from it?
1) slowly reducing your life expectancy by adding to the chance of heart disease and cancer and basically killing yourself
2) giving someone money to do said above in #1
Lets do this instead, you spend about $4 a pack and smoke a pack a day which adds up to $28 a week, and that totals to $1456 a year... say you start at 18 and smoke till you die, which is approximately 71 years old for a smoking male who does not drink and is a safe driver... that means you smoke for 53 years for a grand total (not adjusted for inflation) of $77,168. That's more than you would pay a mob hitman to "off you", so why don't we just skip the middle man and the pain, not including all the medical problems you will encounter as well as bills that pile up, family anguish that goes along with it, and give me the $77,000 and I will take care of it for you?
Don't thank me later, do it now

Its wasting money because after that minute of breathing in smoke along with tar poisons and all that other shit in, you have nothing but a yummy smelling odor =/
You are burning your money and have nothing to show for it, Save that money and then buy yourself something and enjoy it then you will have something and can enjoy it all you want.. Also you would be alot healthier in the end.
I know it wont mean anything to a smoker but I like starting a debate

I don't understand the addiction thing. I smoke when I want to and don't when I don't.
If I were to smoke for a 30 days, I could put them away on day 31 because I want to.
Cigars smell good imo, and maybe to smokers cigarettes smell good. Its the non smokers that don't like the smell.

I started smoking when i was 13, and for the first couple years it was more a social thing then an addiction, but now is a totaly different story, the problem is its two seperate addictions, one is the nicotine addiction wich is what the patch and the gum and so on and so forth are for, but there is also a physical addiction of actualy holding the cigarette it sounds dumb but its true

I think its more of it makes you feel cooler I guess to smoke and makes you want to smoking, I know many ppl that smoked for years and years and years and then just stopped ..
I think when you try to quit its more of an excuse to start again.

I smoked, for years and years (15 to be exact) and quit. No patch, no nothing, just said I can't smoke anymore because it is dumb to smoke and kill myself slowly, so I made up my mind and said all I have to do is quit... and I did. Not that it wasn't hard but saying that it is too hard to quit is nothing but an excuse. If you really want to quit, you will, regardless of how hard it may or may not be. And I can not look at someone who tried and failed as being real failure. It is not like you tried to shoot a half court goal (basketball or hockey, pick) and missed because you do not have enough talent or practice - that is failure. It is because you chose once more to start back up because it got to hard. If you change your mindset, you will do it. I fully believe that and think that most people who are successful at it has similar mindsets. They just decide to do it!dodge_girl wrote:Non smokers just don't understand how hard it really is to quit, ive tried and failed about 3 times, i plan to quit just not right now

The motivation for me was not my health, but the money I was putting into the already-rich Tobacco companies. Like I said I still smoke occasionally, but I haven't spent more then $5 on them in the last 3 months. Usually I just bum off of the people I would give smokes to when I did smoke regularly, only occasionally going in on a pack with my roommate or something if we are going out.

Quitting smoking is the easiest thing in the world. I've done it 25 times.
/sarcasm off
No but seriously. The physical addiction is what got me the most. Smoking on breaks at work, smoking while driving..
Was hard to give up.
I used to smoke a pack a day. Quit the day after my birthday. Gave myself one last big night and then cut myself off.
Still been known to have one once in awhile if I'm drinking.

Marlboro reds or chesterfields when I can find them. Wish they sold cartons of them regularly. Ill puff on a black or a primetime here and there too. Im a chimney what can I say.
