Flashing lights in the mirror

Post by Nutmeg » Wed Nov 07, 2007 11:19 am

Well, I officially got my first ticket last saturday night. I was driving home from my girlfriend's house, and a cop passed me going the other way on a two lane straight that's about a quarter mile long or so. Luckily I had slowed down a lot, so he got me for doing 48 in a 35. Remarkably, I don't think I've gone 5 over the speed limit since. Giving up $154 dollars knocks some sense into you.

That sucks, but at least you had slowed down and didn't get an even worse ticket

your 16 and you said finally got it? I would say a "finally got a ticket" would be more so for someone who was like 25, or 30

I had 3 tickets the first year I started driving, all for speeding and all for 11 over. It was all the same cop as well... He lived in my neighborhood and did NOT like teenagers -- or as he called us all, PUNK teens. Ah well. Live and learn.

Tickets are no fun...just get a lawyer to take care of them for you so you don't get points on your record.

People think I'm weird around here because I go the speed limit in an SRT. I might break 5 over on the highway...unless traffic is hauling ass then I will match.

Oh well, welcome to the club.

I've been fortunate to only have 2 tickets. The first one is apparantly gone, according to the judge at the court appearance for my 2nd ticket. Since I was straight up about the one ticket that didn't even show, I got the points removed from the 2nd ticket. I'm pretty sure my first was the summer after I got out of high school.

So being 22 with no points = $490/yr for insurance FTMFW (being on my parents plan probably helps a little)

My mom went until she was in her 40's before she got her first one, 45ish I think.

congradulations. you've now entered the wonderful world of retardedly high insurance premiums. you're now officially fucked for at least the next three years.

speeding at a young age only screws you in the long run. slow down, and enjoy saving money. next time you're late somewhere, consider how much it'll cost you in the long run if you get a ticket trying to rush.

you should get a lawyer to handle the ticket for you, like stated above. there's a chance they can get the points dropped, which is a huge plus and worth every penny.
