40? :O On a small engine?

Coming in at 260 HP / 260 lb-ft, the SS/TC gains a full 55 horses over the now-defunct SS/SC. Power, of course, is sourced from the same 2.0L direct-injected, turbocharged, intercooled sledgehammer found under the bonnets of the Pontiac Solstice GXP, Saturn Sky Red Line, and forthcoming Chevy HHR SS.
Direct injected... Means "Sorry aftermarket tuners, you won't be doing much Giant turbo/high power mods to this car" This is the same reason why you havnt seen any high powered Mazdaspeed 6's and 3's for they have the same Direct injection. Dissipointing to say the least...

I know what direct injection is, but is it that brittle under high boost?

Not that its brittle, just very hard to get extra fuel outa the system...

So then why not use extra injection?

Since you know what Direct Injection is, then you must know it occurs at a much higher pressure than regular fuel injected cars. Exactly how would one get "extra injection"? Normally, in a fuel injected car, (assuming you're not using a piggy back to fool the computer to dump more fuel in) fuel supplies would be upped by using an injector with a larger flow rate and/or upping the fuel pressure. But with Direct Injection, ask yourself, who makes a larger injector for whatever car your modding that can handle the already high pressure? Then ask yourself, how the hell can I up the pressure to try to get more fuel out without endangering the fuel system? Extra injection would require an entirely seperate fuel system (say sprayed into the intake manifold like a regular car). The main problem I see for tuning with Direct Injection is that it improves efficiency, but the high pressure it takes place at makes it difficult right now for tuners to have the right parts that they can use to manipulate the fuel input. That's what I think about it anyhow. Gasoline Direct Injection still isn't as high as Diesel IIRC. I think Diesel was something like 20,000+ psi.
Cars I've been through:
1989 Toyota Supra Turbo (still have it, non-running)
1994 Acura Integra (wrecked)
1994 Chrysler New Yorker (still have it, mom's now)
1990 Honda Civic AWD Wagon (stolen)
1998 Honda Civic LX (stolen)
1994 Nissan Pickup (bought from uncle, sold back to him)
2001 Dodge Neon R/T (wrecked)
1998 Lexus GS300 (current)
1999 BMW 528i Sport (current)

I wonder if NOS makes a fuel fogger capable of enough flow... or if maybe an injector from a TBI car would be able to handle it. Yes, it would be a different setup than traditional extra injection but I still don't see why it isn't doable.

Cold start injectors from older 80's cars dump A LOT of fuel in, those might even work. And they don't pulse, they stream.

Not to put the thread back on topic or anything crazy like that :-) but I just found out that the "no lift shift" basically allows you to leave your foot on the gas while engaging/disengaging the clutch and not have to worry about it.

Interesting!

Wow, I would have to UNdo so many years of shifting experience to even consistently do that consciously, much less get into the habit of it.
