TOWED car problem.

Well guys my car got jacked last night and I did pick it up today however the towing company tried to open my car by pulling the top part of the door framke on the passenger side back and as a result now my door is gapping at the top edge and I can stick my fingers in there. I realized that after I drove off the lot because of the wind noise and I went back and tried to be nice to the guy and he called me a liar and says I got to proove that they did the damage... so how the hell do I do that....
I tried to talk to the manager who actually tried to pull it back and I told him not to touch it cuz I need a proof...

I am stopping the payment to them, and then I am gonna see if I can go after them for this...

Do you guys have any suggestions or similar problems with the towing companies.

Nothing else was damaged on my car mechanically...

that's gonna be a tough one to proove. they had to have been doin something wrong. when i go out on a tow and need to get into a locked car, it'a as simple as a small plastic wedge, little pump up bag, and a slim jim. i can't even imagine how they can fuck that process up. :tard:

yeah good luck, theyll just claim that it was like that and theres really no way to prove otherwise

tow truck companies are right up there with scum lords and lawyers... paid car thieves..

well thanks for the advice, I am wondering if canceling their payment will do anything except piss them off but the guy was very rude and pretty much told me to fuck off... and thats why I am considering my options...

I will see if I can fix the door cuz it gaps pretty bad now but I dont want to let this slide... Do you think they will go after me for the money? how bad could this get... ?

i'd stop in tomorrow and let them know that you've stopped payment and that you would like to talk to the OWNER and explain how you were pretty much told to fuck off and let him know that payment is stopped and you'll be happy to pay him if he'll take care of the problem that his employees caused

if you stop payment, they might just come to your house and tow you again :P i dont think that would be legal but it sure would be funny (not for you though)

talk to your insurance agency, maybe they can suggest something

they'll just send it to collections which is more a pain in the ass than anything else.

When I was towed home sunday night, I had to be in the truck with the tow guy for an hour. We were shooting the shit and he was telling me how they really don't care what happens to your car. It's just a money sign to them, and damn knows if I wasn't there he would of just pulled it up onto the bed without even trying to be nice about it.

Not to mention, he also discussed how they all work together like that. As long as they call in no damage, everything that may happen was previously there in their eyes.

You're SOL basically.

Again thanks for the advice guys, this thing is just sort of bugging me because of the way he talked to me and how he tried to make me look stupid, when he clearly has pictures of the car before where you can see the door perfectly straight.... he tried to force it back in in front of me but I told him not to touch it and thats when the dude kinda went ballistic and walked away...

My pops said he can try to fix it for me but I think it will be worth my time to mess with those dudes for a while, I might offer them half the payment or maybe even get an estimate for the damage to the door and show them that, and see where that goes from there, wost comes to worse I will just pay em and forget about but its just bugging the crap out of me that they think they can do that to peoples cars.

My friend drives a 944 Porsche and when they were towing his car they hooked it up for the control arm which was alum, and they bent it, and as a result he had to fix it and the bill was a 1000$, he sued them and they had to cough up all that money, and they were not happy, he said they were hunting for his car after that.

Maybe it was the people that stole your car, they could of caused that damage. If it was the towing company that did it, good luck.

Story behind it getting stolen? What did they take? Crazy they found it the next day.

Unless you don't have full coverage, turn it in to your insurance and get it fixed right. If the insurance can determine when the damage occured, their lawyers can kick ass alot better than you. believe me if they can recover the loss they will. But I'm guessin you don't have full coverage since you're payin' the tow/storage bill....

i guess i'm one of the few wo does care. when i go out on a tow i make for damn sure i'm as carefull as i can be. i treat the person's car exactly how i would expect them to treat mine. and i have high expectations

And thats how it should be but I guess I was just out of luck with that guy, it snowed last night and believe it or now snow did get in the car, so I tried to pry the door back and I got it pretty close to stock so as it stands now I wont need any further repairs but i am still planning to f**k with those guys just to get back for their rudeness and carelessness towards my car. Funny thing is this is the first time my car has been towed in my entire driving career, and I got to tell ya I was not a happy customer...

When I locked my keys in my car (after spinning out in a huge snow storm, plowing rear-end into a snow bank a 55 mph) the tow driver had a nifty inflatable pillow thing that he stuck under the window frame and inflated with a hand pump. With it opened up 1/8" or so he reached in with a metal rod and poped the lock. Didn't do any damage to my car.

yup, that's a nifty little kit called the Slim Jim. they make several different shapes and sizes of rods

1) Find out where the tow truck company owner lives.

2) Call and make sure he's at work and you'd like to come in to get this issue taken care of, blah blah blah.

3) Call a different tow truck company to go to his house and tow his "disabled vehicle" out of his driveway. Make sure they do a "bang up" job with it too!

or make his life hell and take pictures of his cars and post them up on craigslist with his company at the plac selling them and the company # as the contact #. make sure to make it one hell of a low price too... i did something like that once. (2003 Denali for $4500 )

i know how you feel man...

years back, i had a white 02 neon. i got in a bad accident on my way towards chicago and had the car towed into south bend, indiana. i had a system in the car and the tow truck driver saw it and was askin questions.....

once my car was fixed, i picked up the car and the system was GONE. I got pissed and started asking questions. The guy at the dealership showed me the card from the tow truck driver and on the back it stated "Audio system was given to customer before dropoff". The tow truck driver stole my system and when I went to confront him, his manager told me "If the card stated he gave it to you, then he gave it to you. Go away". I was ready to kill. But, there was nothing i could do about it.....

I even gave the guy a few smokes too..... thats the thanks i get for being a nice guy to him...

So basically you need to carry around a tape recorder, a camera and a copy of the daily newspaper with you everyday everywhere you go!

Well I stopped payment for him so now its just wait time... I wonder if the dude is gonna come to my house and try to tow my car out of the driveway or if he is going to involve police into this...

I fixed the door, a friend of mine who works in a body shop was able to bend it back into shape so its almost like the way it was, anyways I am still pissed at them for doing that to me on new years eve... freaking bastards, after 8in of snow how do they expect me to see the numbers on the ground...?

As for the Craig's list I might actually do that just for the hell of it...

he can NOT tow your car from your drive way. that's called stealing. He CAN, however, get his lawyer (and he probably has one) to file some sort of something or other against you. Something along the lines of a mechanics lien, which I believe involves your registration being suspended around here.
