The SC Cobalts really don't put down good numbers. The SC really limits them in the end. I'd wait till the 260/260 TC motor goes in them. Or get the SRT.

How much power can the SS make with stock internals? My friend has a SRT-4 that makes 485 WHP on 119 octane.

If you are worried about insurance, go through a broker. Most of them can get you it really cheap with everything you need still.

SRT first choice, Cobalt second. Both are American-made, that's what counts to me.

i talked to a friend with a SS and he said the SS with there ecotec motors can put down 500+ on stock internals easily. he knows what hes talking about but i think putting down that much on a SS and a SRT are 2 total different things and prices he said the SS cost so much more to put down 500+ on then a srt-4. cause srt its just big turbo and go (in words thats easy but the setup is pretty much turbo and go). with the SS you can go big supercharger (which i kinda feel is a bit harder to make alot of power on) or switch to big turbo but then of course you have to get rid of the small stock supercharger and something else has to takes its spot or you can go dual forced induction but then thats ALOTTTT of work and tuning and fabrication. just stuff that ive heard none of this are facts but like i said he sounded like he knew what he was talking about.

judging by what you were saying in your other thread, do not get an SRT. The youngest one is 3 years old and depending on your driving situation you will only keep it a year. (since you said that 60000 miles is a lot for you on a car)

The ecotec's are very stong motors. Sure they do not have as much power stock as an SRT and they are limited by the supercharger, but they are certainly quicker than an SXT.

Personally I wouldn't buy an SRT unless I was planning on rebuilding the motor or I knew the previous owner(s).

Why would you want more than 300HP in a FWD daily driven car? Anything like that is just a dyno queen. That would not even translate well to a track situation. No need for that much HP at all unless you want bragging rights.

For 18K, get as new of a WRX as you can get with no mods and unmolested as possible.

I would like to disagree with that. Mox's car seems to be setup right. He has 330ish hp. Sure its a beast in the rain, but I think he is one of the few who really has a handle on the cars combination.
