Ecliplse Clutch Question

I got a friend at work who just blew his tranny on his GS and got a tranny but he plans on building it up so I suggested that he get an upgraded clutch since its factory and we have to assume that it has over 100k on it. I'm looking around for him since he just got done moving and doesn't have the interwebz yet. On some other forums I see suggestions for ACT 2100-2600 series clutches. Eventually he plans on putting a turbo on it, but he wants to keep everything in line mod wise and do it in stages. Could anybody point me in the right direction or suggest me something?

As of right now all he has is maybe a CAI, header and exhaust. I'll find out if he has more, but thats all I know for now. Thanks.

I have a suggestion. Tell him to sell the eclipse and buy a non-dsm. A friend of mine went thru 3 or 4 trannies on his rs before he got frustrated and sold it, and all he had were some bolt-ons.

It's highly unlikely that he'll do that since he loves his car, but if it comes to that I'll try to set him up with a nice 2gn.

But the tranny went because the previous owner screwed up second gear and he never checked it out/ knew what to do.

He's gonna turbo a non-turbo DSM engine? Okay...why not just swap in a 1st gen motor and a 2nd gen tranny for strength? I think if he's gonna keep the car, he should look into what would be best for a quality build (5 bolt motor, nicely rebuilt tranny, better axles, etc.). But, replacing the clutch for his current set up, I would opt for a decent stage 2 clutch from just about anyone. With just bolt ons and even if he takes the long way around and does a turbo kit on a non-turbo car, it will still hold well enough.

Don't forget to resurface the flywheel or replace it.

I got a machine shop that will surface the flywheel cheap, gotta love family. What he plans on doing is building this up as an NA for now then sell it to somebody he knows then swap in whatever the turbo version of that engine is for his.
