That is one of the biggest reasons we have such a strict policy on cutting keys from a VIN. Whoever requests a key to be cut must do so in person, provide either the title or registration (government provided form), and the person requesting the key must be the person on said title or registration with current drivers license to prove ID.

We have so many people who are trying to get keys for their sons or daughters, wives or husbands, etc. They really don't understand why we won't cut a key for them. After explaining that this is for their protection, as well as ours, they sometimes understand. Sometimes. If they knew about situations like this, they would understand better.

Donkeypuncher wrote:There was a huge post on the rx7 forums where a guy used the same scam to make a duplicate key to another members car. He stole it, covered it with a tarp and tried to sell the custom 1-off carbon fiber pieces online. The guy spent like $40k in custom mods so it was obvious when he saw the parts for sale.

One of the other members who was ex-military, sat in the woods near his house for hours and finally caught the guy pulling the tarp off to reveal the car. Police arrested him after the member showed all the evidence.

It all started with a simple little question asking for a vin number, with a little story about seeing if a part would fit. I can't find the post since it was like 2003 when I saw it, but just beware of these scams.

I cannot read the blue. I am color blind and it blends and glows into the back ground.

so I'm glad he's not doing it anymore.

different concept. most people have no idea what its like to be colorblind.. certain things you can't see or tell the difference. Usually with shades of colors.

I have no idea what colors stoplights are.. I have to go by the location of the light. eh.

Heh, Internet sarcasm never works for me. I agree though. Picture a completely blind-since-birth person trying to visualize what it is like to be able to see. Our whole existence depends upon our senses. That stuff really blows your mind when you think about it. Damn you Descartes.

Exactly. People have asked me what colors I see since I am red/green color blind and I can't get them to understand that I don't know what colors look like to them.

hell the green we see, could be the blue you see.

To quote Dennis Miller.....

"Look at the crayon box asshole!"

He used that when describing hanging out with the stoned guy who likes to get very deep. "How do I know the color blue to you is the color blue to me?"

I know this doesn't apply to you color blind folks. I just had to do it :D
