Well, my modding plans have been changed UPDATE 6-8-08

So here I am, getting all my parts ready and paint about to be ordered for my bumper swap and paint in the middle of June. If you guys didnt know, ill be going to college this fall to major in Pre-Medicine with hopes of going to medical school, and eventually, be a doctor. Well, A local doctor whom I know, came out of basically nowhere and said that he wanted me to shadow him at his practice this summer. For those who dont know what shadowing is, its basically like an internship where you watch everything that the doctor does and basically just follow him around everywhere.

One thing though...Internships arent usually paid jobs.

This means that my major mods will be put on hold for the time being; as ill basically be working at the practice/living off my graduation money this summer. Even though it kind of sucks, this will be a a great opportunity and the next step to my success as a physician. No viper silver metallic paint job for me anytime soon....

Good for you man ! i know it sucks not being able to mod and all, but focusing on getting a good education, and a promising career is the best investment/ favor you could do yourself ............

Congratz man! Work experience is definitely underated, for what you're missing in pay now, it'll be made up for later. I'm pretty lucky to have a paying internship. Some of my bastid friends work for GM and get paid, plus free rent, gas, and utilities, and time off. No wonder the company is going down hill..

And think about it, when you are rolling in phat medical loot, imagine what you can do to the Neon then

Gratz again :D

I personally think you should push yourself through and get the car done.

This semester I had school, work, and an internship and I managed just fine. But I'm pretty glad school and the internship are over.

*looks at intern sitting 2 desks in front of me*

that kid is pretty god damn worthless here

We really don't have any work for him to do, so he just sits there and looks for cover art all day.

Never take an internship for graphics.

I seriously contemplated that. However, i don't particularly know what the hours will be this summer, I think they will be pretty demanding. If not. we will still see.

I think you should find out the hours, and depending on that, get an easy part time job.

The whole working for free thing is a farce IMO. Thank God I didn't get into a field that makes me do that crap. The only time I work for free is when I work for me.

Either way, experience talks. Good luck.

I think I'm going to shadow in the near future, not sure what field. But you're right Jacob, money is nice.

well, Its been a week and Im only going to be interning two or maybe 3 days during the week. This means ill be able to work some this summer!!! I wont be painting my car, but some other mods are sure to come such as Projectors w/HIDs, Exhaust, Cuda stripes ect...

Im thinking about doing a civic lip with my mopar sides and spraying my srt bumper to match....I dont know though. Depends on how the money looks further into the summer. We will just have to see.

What practice is this doctor in? I'm currently in school for surgical technology, so I can pave my way into a hospital and have them pay for my pre-medical education. I already have two years of pre-med under my belt, plus the associates in surgical (in which clinicals - unpaid - are required).

I did shadow for a year before I decided to take on this major and it actually helped me figure out which facet of the field I wanted to go into. When looking at the colleges be sure to check their acceptance rates into graduate degree programs, some are far better than others in that respect. Next fall (of 09) I'll be majoring in Biology - Pre Med and minoring in Bio-Chem and Criminology. I've decided on being a medical examiner. Good luck with your shadowing and be sure to do as much research and ask as many questions as you can. Its a long ass road but worth it in the end.

^^^

Its Dr. Cloninger and a few of his associates Dr. Cash and a Nurse practitioner Lutricia. Its a Family/general practice in a nearby town called Fallston. It was really the only spot this summer where I feel I could get some real hands on experience. Ill be doing Pre-med this summer at UNCC and probably shadowing at the hospital adjacent from campus. I really would like to attend Yale for medical school...But we all have dreams I suppose. I really would like to go into internal medicine or possible cardiology, I suppose time will reveal my future for me.

But interning so far has been great, I love seeing patients and helping to resolve their problems.

Good luck to you as well.
