I've been mairred almost 21 years so I think we're pretty much "stuck" with each other. I can get any car that I can afford, which isn't much, LOL. Of all the cars I've owned and drove the SRT has got to be one of the quickest. I guess my dreams aren't as big as some people's are, the SRT would be all the car I'd ever need, especially if I can add a Stage III at a later date. Don't care about adding Toys though, no place close to get 100 oct gas. Stage III would still take premium and at over $4 bucks a gallon that'd be about all I could afford.

The SRT is nice and everything, and no doubt quick, but when I hear dream car, I think of something else. More along the lines of BMW M3 or M5, Porsche 911 GT2, Saleen S302 Extreme, Audi R8. There is a difference between nice and dreamy.

A man's got to know his limitations, even when dreaming. I think the SRT-4 is about right for what I want and what I can afford in the future. Sure, if money were no object and gas was a buck a gallon I might want something like a '69 Mustang Mach I with the Boss 429 but that's not a realistic dream to have in this day and age.

I'd have to disagree. But I'm only speaking from the stand point of having an R/T.

r/t's have a differant final drive ratio, this causes your gears to actually be shorter. this is done to give faster acceleration.

r/t final is 3.94, sxt final is 3.55. the higher the number, the shorter the gears...thats why :)

I assumed, after someone else chimed in. SRT-4s gears are REALLY short, at least the amount of time it takes to go through them. :P

The T-850 in the SRT should be the same as in the R/T, i.e. 3.94:1. I'd like a set of shorter gears in my SXT not only for acceleration but for all the slow drivers that insist on doing 40mph in a 45 on 127N. That sticks me in 4th , if I had shorter gears I could at least shift to 5th and not lug the motor so much.

Driving the SRT has really made me stop and take a hard look at wether I want to do much(other then suppension) to my car. I could add all the bells and whistles and still not have the HP or be as quick as a stock SRT.

the 4.0l inline 6 with that exhaust is probably my favorite sounding car ever.

Well, let's see. It's about $174,700 more then the SRT I looked at, it's only about 1.8 sec. quicker 0-60(Stage III SRT would probably be just about as quick though) and it get's worse gas miliage then the SRT.
I'd much rather have the SRT-4 anyday of the week.

For $40K I could pick up an SRT-4 and have a Stage III turbo upgrade installed AND buy somekind of "other" car to build into a drag racer to run at the local 1/8th mile. That way I'd have a nice, fairly fast street car to drive and something really quick to play with at the track and I still wouldn't have spend nearly as much as a lot of other "dream" cars would have cost. There are so many other things I can spend money on besides a car, I'd like a new mandolin($600 bucks), I'd like to remodel the house we live in($30K or so), I'd like to take a trip to Ireland someday. Lots of other things to do and buy then just a $190K car.

TVRs definitely make me cream my pants whenever I think about them, especially the older models. These are pure sports cars, hand-made with love for me to love my hand while thinking about them.

Nah, the gear set in the SRT is I think 3.53:1. Weird though, my 3.55 car I put it in 5th if I do 40, but that is without any hills.

In 5th at 40 I'm lugging the engine at about 1700 rpm. I like to keep it around 2000 to 2500 rpm if I can.

I'm seriously thinking about getting an SRT-4 instead of another motorcycle...I know the speed is nowhere near the same but it would be a lot safer and my girlfriend can have my neon (despite the fact she wants an SRT)
